Paccar Song lyrics 3: Don't worry bout the truck note when Paccar's the mill, The broken crank'll drop thru the oil pan on the first hill. Built from recyclables, It's a Plastic Truck, Drivers would be wise to not press their luck. A Cat or a Cummins won't let you down, The head engineer at Paccar must be a clown. Saw a Paccar yesterday on Rt. 7 west, The trail of parts on the highway put up no protest. The tow rig was there in no time flat, Following behind sporting a CAT. All we need is a guitar ??

I hear you loud and clear Warren. That mentality is preached to the mechanics at dealers from management. I’ve been a field tech at a dealer for over 20 years and have never subscribed to it because of experience and being humble. We aren’t all arrogant and should all be able and open to learn from each other but there’s a lot who are arrogant and drink the koolaid and I just laugh when the independent fixes stuff better, faster, and cheaper than some of our guys. Our labor rate is almost $200 an hour and the independents are at highest $90 an hour. Funny thing is the customers don’t get to choose who comes out, good guy or bad guy but the labor rate is always the same. I’ve always kept the customer in mind and tell every new guy that walks in the revolving door that the only thing they have is their reputation so don’t ruin it and also don’t badmouth the competition because you may have to work for them one day.

Hearing stories like that makes me glad we have competent mechanics and service manager at our local Deere dealer. It’s a 3 store dealership so that helps as well. The mechanics are younger but they know what they’re doing and if they don’t know something, they’ll do the research. They’ve always got us going. Do wish we had a guy like Warren in the area. I hear your story on the Deere controller bench programming problem. I worked for a local Deere dealership for 14 years, and I don't remember having much demand for bench programming although I'm sure we did it once in a while especially when the first tractors with controllers came along. With time it became much easier to program them on the tractor. That being said if there was a demand I'm sure we did not have the correct adapter harness for the controller, so someone was going to have to order or build the adapter harness and there is no way it could be cost effective to do so for what was likely be a one off program. As memory serves at one time I'm sure we would take a controller off of a tractor and install the customers controller to bench program it that way, then re-install the original controller, but after the early days because of VIN security we were not able to do this and did not always have the correct tractor anyways. However this being the bottleneck could you not make your own bench programming harness and provide it to the dealership so they could do the bench programming for you? Possibly you would have to make a harness for each controller to compensate for the different controllers. I believe you would just need to provide power, ground and CAN high/low to the controller. Anyways I enjoy your videos.

I used to work for RDO and while their company values would give them latitude to send someone 6 hours to program a tractor; sometimes the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. There’s definitely a lot of kool aide at RDO, but I think generally they are a good outfit. Warren definitely has it right when he talks about the vertical integration of sales, parts, and service. RDO believes in Customers For Life and they will rope as many people in as they can.

The MX engines are famous for throwing a fuel code after changing the fuel filters if they aren't changed in the right sequence. Possibly from the initial setup with the dry fuel lines before priming? Good luck 👍👍
@SuperSecretSquirell2 жыл бұрын
I don't know what sequence they're supposed to be changed in but I never had an issue if I pulled the engine-mounted one first, fill the housing with fresh fuel and slap the cap back on as quick as possible, start the engine, shut it down, swap out the frame-mounted one and fill it through the vent cap.
@scubasteve79462 жыл бұрын
@@SuperSecretSquirell that's essentially the way that Paccar recommends it. They have their own youtube channel with some information videos that explains it. You don't need to open any bleeders, if you just use the engine mounted manual primer and pump it up after swapping the filter. Like you said, do one first, get it running, then do the other next. At least that has worked for me. Good travels man.
