Hi! I think the tool you were using for the bread is actually a scraper- to move dough around on the board or cut it into big chunks? I am no expert, but I use a bread scorer- basically a razor blade with a holder- you can find a bunch of them on amazon! I hope Alex gets better soon- love your posts! LOVE your house!!!!

Another bread baking tip (to add to the previous ones I saw in the comments about the lame/razor knife): if you leave the bread to cool completely before cutting, it will be way better and not dry out as quickly because the moisture stays inside the crust. If you cut it too soon, the water will evaporate out of the bread and it will go stale way quicker.

Madeleine, could you say where you get your wood from for the wood burner please? I always like to shop around and see how much you get for your money. You can get a product called peel stop. It's basically glue, so if you want to go the budget route then PVA glue will do a similar job. I would run a coat of that along the bottom of the bedroom walls once you've scraped off the really loose stuff and that should stop it peeling off any further underneath the fresh coat. Also been meaning to say, not sure what your carpenter used to make your kitchen cupboard doors but I would suggest replacing them with MDF. It's much more stable in varying temperatures so won't warp which is what's happened to your current ones. MDF also paints really well so you won't notice it's not 'real' wood, it will look just as good! Thank you for doing vlogmas, I'm really enjoying your videos 😊

Is your boiling water tap heated via electric? After Christmas, would you consider doing a video about how you clean your home and reduce pet hair? I’d be very interested in that since you have three pets. I have one dog and one cat. Since getting the cat, it seems that the pet hair is just impossible to keep up with. You probably have no issues with the knife rack as it's convenient, but if you know anything about Feng Shui, that kind of knife rack is probably not the best for the harmony of the home...lol...If it had an enclosed box, it might have a safer feel and look to it....but i guess it just depends on the person....To me, it looks unsafe like that and i don't know, what if a knife just randomly fell off....but, for most people, it doesn't seem to be a concern or big deal..🌿
