Man Peter your a tough Oldboy. I think of you doing all this stuff to build your cabin and I’m almost afraid to even get started on mine even with power tools. I hope I can toughen up and get in shape like you. I use to be a stone mason but I’ve been retired now taking care of mom for the past couple of years and I’ve really softened up. I gotta give you a big hands up Bubba. God bless and many thanks. (Old guy from Arkansas)🇺🇸

I love boiled cabbage, butter and salt. All my soups have tomato’s in the. I make beef, vegetable soup as one of my specialities. I build my base with onion, carrots and celery. Then, it gets the stew beef, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes followed by green beans, kernel corn, potatoes and okra. It is a meal all by itself. It takes about six hours to cook on slow heat. I do not use water. I use beef broth. I make about 8 quarts at a time, freezing most of it for later.

Absolutely love this!! hand tools for the win!! After I build my little place I'm doing right now I am going to study bit more and thinking of a log cabin like this for the next building further down the road. Would love to come across some more hand tools like the ones you have to make building that much more easier and funner IMO. Keep at it you are almost there! I can't wait to see what its going to look like when its all done.

One of the fiddle tunes used is the Cherokee song "Wishita dooya dooya dooya, wishita dooya, dooya hey. Washa taney-ya hey ya hey ya, Washa taney-ya hey ya hey. The old TV show Northern Exposure once had an Indian song they sang to "Turkey in the straw" I don't know what language it is in but I memorized the words; "Eh! Quag! Quag! Jegoobah ezheahn mesuya booya oguma jijun. Ninimushey ugu wijiwa Aqui que shemumah oguma jijun." Hunh. I never looked at this before. I didn't realize the words oguma jijun occured twice, and that it's the verb in two sentences. That structure, the existence of the "zhe" sound, and the juxtaposition of vowels would make me make a rather uninformed guess that the language is Ojibwa. It's definitely not Lakota or Cherokee or Choctaw or Quechua or Aymará.

I’ve noticed in a lot of your vids, you often check the pan on your smooth bore. Are you checking to see if it’s primed, or unprimed, or the condition of the priming powder?
@TheWoodlandEscape
@TheWoodlandEscape 2 жыл бұрын
I’ll check it every 15 minutes or so if it is humid and dump and replace if necessary. Lost the dear of a life time at only 30 yards once due to not fleshing up my pan powder. That won’t happen again.

When Townsend pointed out that the rivers in the 18th century were full of fish it dawned in me: there were more people on the North American continent in the 14th century than there were in the 18th century. It's not something people with Indian grandparents would doubt at all. Anyone who picks up arrowheads would find that obvious.
@TheWoodlandEscape
@TheWoodlandEscape 3 жыл бұрын
I’m sure that is quite possible Pete. As I kid I would pick up hundreds of artifacts when the frost when out of the ground, by simply walking plowed fields. Europeans decimated the native population.

I know you are done now, but for posterity, I have thoughts. I think a guy would have gotten some help on the rafters with the neighbors, barn raising style. Guess it depends on the local. Also with all the timber available, I am surprised that I don't see more scaffolding.
@TheWoodlandEscape
