You have got the cinematic gift, Gripp! The beginning vintage B&W newsreel footage with narration you created, morphing to full color live shot was masterful! Similarly, the end scene, skimming the wind-swept waves against the Cliffs of Dover, then climbing back into history (B&W) - My God, Man! Awesome. I'm sounding like quite the fan-boy. It was really that good! Thanks!

Whoops... no flaps on takeoff for the Spitfire, it's much more well behaved that way. I was making that mistake too until I was informed of the correct procedure.

That was great thanks Gripper. Only downside is that I viewed it whilst drinking a few beers, and for some strange reason, at the start of the vid, I grossly mistook the images as a result of over-consumption (if there is such a thing!). Thanks again, and stay well.

@andrewjamez3 жыл бұрын
opening video showing Spitfire takeoff with flaps down...tut tut.. :) The flaps are more airbrakes than flaps with only full down available. they block the airflow though the radiators and will overheat the engine very quick under power when in the down position....for landings only ...and they were usually deployed on base leg to short final
@pokerandphilosophy83283 жыл бұрын
The starting procedure isn't that tricky. Before you fire the engine, you've got to spit in your hands.

Another Great Eye Candy Vid from the Gripper Sim showing us the Beauty of not just the famous Spitfire model given to us here but of MSFS 2020's terrain and Weather modelling. I have to say though im disappointed with the sound of the Merlin engine in this model. The IL2 Sturmovik model clearly surpasses the sound modelled for the Spitfire clearly giving us that unique engine sound from the Merlin! I really think its not a great Sound model they have given us here.

I think you're not supposed to brake after the 3 pointer until you're going slow enough that the tail won't lift. The fuck the I know though, closest I've been to one is at Duxford!

The way you describe it: quickly adding power caused a ground loop crash...I'd say that sounds more like torque instead of P Factor for your wishbone root cause analysis.
@owenosullivan76043 жыл бұрын
There is an electric fuel pump with a switch under the elevator trim-go here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/harLi5-go5mpeZo. Also the flaps have no take off position, they are left "up" on take off.

That's what IL2 Sturmovik is for probably the best WW2 combat flight sim for begginers all the way up to Study level flight mechanics and with the community constantly updating it with 4K res Skins for the planes it still looks fantastic over for a nearly 20- year old flight sim and the Spitfire sounds so much more realistic thdisappointed
