When the Chinese assemble these for their videos, they do it on a level, hard surface such as a concrete slab. These are based on ISO shipping containers. Even with those that have solid walls on all three sides you can still have issues with the doors if the whole unit is even slightly off level. I am really surprised the long outside wall was not hinged to either the floor or ceiling. It would have been exceptionally heavy to setup without a built in raising system. Good luck, prayers your way.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this video and answer all the comments - it is greatly appreciated 🙏 We are in the process of purchasing a very similar cottage from My Little House. I was blown away by how easily you lowered the floors. If possible, can you please let me know how you and your husband did it and what winch / ratchet strap you used? We are also flying solo and if we can lower the floors ourselves it''ll save us a heap of hassle. I'm so sorry to hear about the quality issues. I hope you have resolved them and are enjoying a well earned rest. Take care and thank you again, Jezz 🙏😊

awesome video, we have been looking around at a couple similar models. You made me walk away from this system. but we found a company in Wyong in NSW, Same Day Granny Flats and their models are amazing. I think every problem you listed (which was great) they do not have. they offer a guarantee no leak and everything is upgraded. do you have the plastic windows? your suggestions for improvements were spot on, you should be in design. I think these guys who are the biggest suppliers in Australia literally took all your ideas of improvement and ran with it LOL. look forward to an updated video.

@Janderra2 ай бұрын
This model is not ideal as a primary dwelling as many councils in SEQld don't allow this model as the ceiling height is too low I am actually in the process of getting 2 more 40ft versions with the higher ceilings approved by my council I will do a video update when I have further progress. I am currently working with a building certifier who has experience getting these buildings council approved. The big influencing factor would be how many people with be living in it the 20 ft would be great for a single person or even a couple but for a family it really is too small hence why we are getting 2 larger ones. They generally are very good value for what you get but having them properly installed is important or at the very least having fantastic instructions. Thanks for watching Blessings Gerowyn

I think that is it... it is pretty good really 1/4 of the price of a caravan and 3 times the size... it is a challenge having so many of us living in here with homeschooling and I am dreadfully disorganised ut aside from that it is good and will probably be our long term home ... Did you put your block on dirt? Everything starts at the ground level. Your ground should have been leveled. Then either a slab should have been poured or a footer around perimeter. At min. gravel in middle but every block should have been leveled with sand under them. Settling will be an issue. Obviously, a lot more details have been left out. My point is that your foundation is critical.
@Janderra5 ай бұрын
I agree foundations are essential and unfortunately we had very limited finances and resources most importantly time. We did have earth moving equipment come and put a level pad of crusher dust down as a base under the bricks. Eventually we hope to give it an improved foundation but this was the best we could do at the time and it has given us somewhere to live for over 2 and a half years. It is not ideal and we have learnt a lot. At the moment we are working towards a larger unit with a proper foundation and installed properly... Thanks for watching and sharing your insight Blessings Gerowyn

That's a lot of complaints given the great value of the product. Or for 200,000 you can have a nice home built.
@Janderra3 ай бұрын
@jaep7800 this particular model is a poor quality home for what we paud and there are better quality ones available for less money but at the time this was the best we had access to and beggers can't be choosers and yes it is much better than many other alternatives... My attempt was to give an honest review of the product. Having lived in it for over 2 years now I am planning on an updated video soon we have had some significant challenges and significant wins with the home. Thanks for watching Blessings Gerowyn
@Janderra3 ай бұрын
I actually have a lot more complaints the design of the fly screens failed to keep insects out and we had to totally rescreen it. The shower hose broke within 2 months and needed to be completely replaced. Two years on the shower base cracked and water went everywhere. The problems we have had with the premade plumbing in this unit has been shocking. The insulation is awesome and a small reverse cycle air conditioner works beautifully. The ceiling height is too low to be considered legal height for a living space, it could maybe listed as storage for council approval but on a practical note double bunks will only work if the child is very young or you have very low bunks... my 15 year old can not use the top bunk... a queen size does not fit in either bedroom... there are pros and cons to every building and this one is much better than a caravan price wise, insulation wise and space wise. It does have significant challenges that need to be taken into consideration and planned for. Again Thanks for watching and commenting Blessings Gerowyn

@Janderra6 күн бұрын
@michaelorr430 that is a great question and it is difficult to answer. Most models have very different flooring than mine does and it would also be effected by the foundations which mine is just some besser bricks. We have one of the 19' x 20' Bastone units & it seems to be very well made. We placed it on a level 40' x 50' concrete slab. Fold out & initial setup was extremely easy. I think having a solid level surface for placement is key to initial setup & long term use. Its so nice to step in & out onto clean, hoseable concrete! Next we plan to place a much larger metal carport over it...maybe 30' x 40' and semi-enclose 2 or 3 sides for further protection from sun & wind & rain. The carport will give us some nice outside patio-style sheltered sitting area as well. We plan on long term daily use as you are doing. Thanks so much for your honest & HUGELY HELPFUL & informative videos! Best wishes from California USA. ❤😎👍♥️

Every Council area has different requirements 🤷♀️ This is a complex question generally speaking the roof I believe is too low to be considered a livable dwelling but you can get the higher ceilings... Maggie from Polygreen Solar can get them in... sone council areas you can get away without approval as it is not considered a permanent structure others if you put it on a trailer it is not requiring approval ... You seemed fairly negative or uninformed? Your made critiques of things with lack of knowledge before it was was put together. It's a bit like a painting, it's layered and so it doesn't look right until the project or the canvas/art/painting is finished. Not everyone has that kind of vision evidently. You were supposed to be putting the rolls you found later before you attached the walls, it acts as the seal and suction even to keep the walls together. Slow down because I can see already you have to back track it all and start from scratch because you missed some crucial steps already! Good luck!! PS. Also you seem to be critical of the material used? You have no idea what a blessing that is actually, especially perhaps for a desert dwelling? That sandwhich board your walls etc are very excellent thermal barriers aka could keep you very cool in the heat of a scorching desert. I feel you don't see and appreciate what a great dwelling you have or the materials, instead calling it a peice of crap building?
@Janderra8 ай бұрын
The ones that get imported to Australia now are of a much higher quality, the walls are excellent insulation however even here we get to 45⁰C and it becomes an oven in here thankfully I had an air conditioner installed and being a well insulated small space it cools down pretty quickly... and it also gets very cold in the middle of winter thankfully we don't get below 5⁰C so lots of blankets and jumpers and we manage... honestly I was very stressed when we installed this and Gavin had barely a clue what he was doing, he is strong and has great skills with electrical stuff but heisnot a builder and he was dreadfully arrogant and refuses to ask for or accept any advice and I just do not have the strength and since I broke my leg I am still struggling to regain my balance and strength and just keep getting sick and now I have Grave's Disease and Thyroid Eye Disease resulting in Double Vision and it is all just super complex... I have done one of these, and at the end of it all, I reckon I would have been better off building a floor, making frames, standing them and cladding the outside, then fabricating a roof to drop on. In mine, NOTHING is square, NOTHING fits properly, and the rubber seals they provide for the fold out ends and fold up sides DO NOT stay in place,even with the weight of the roof piece on them. They simply squeezed out. Now DON'T get me started on the shit wiring..Wires twisted together, and taped (at least they had the nouse to tape the joins). Much of the wiring appeared to be 12 volt wiring, not suitable for 240 volts. So I rewired, re-plumbed, rebuilt and reworked so much in the one I put up, that I WOULD NOT do it again. I calculated the cost, purchase price, delivery, rebuilding a lot of it, and I really would have been better off building something simple out of timber, put 4 wheels under it to move it if council got nosey, and saved several thousand dollars. The videos indicate that the go up in a couple of hurs. NOT TRUE. My advice, think very hard before you enter into this. Get a couple of mates, hammers and nails, hit Bunnngs for timber, and do it yourself. KZbin has hundreds of videos that will help you. A couple of mates with a little bit of knowledge, and you will save yourself a lot.
@Janderra Жыл бұрын
