Fished this tactic last week on a match and so did everyone else, after breaking the ice no fish was having anything. With 2 hrs to go I reverted back to a summer rig and heavy feeding with maggots and groundbait. I won the match and only 4 of us caught. Just shows not all venues need winter tactics 🎣🎣 big love and keep the vids coming

Thanks Jamie for your tips. Used them today and had the best winter session ever!
@mattdavies80822 жыл бұрын
Went out today, had 2 fish from 9am until 2pm, fishing maggots dead or alive over groundbait, made a slight change to method over the same bed of bait but with micros and a wafter, had 9 fishing between 2pm and half 3, in these conditions takes time to build the peg as this vid proves. Top work as always

I used to fish in winter for a couple of fish, but it's honestly not worth it for me anymore, sat there freezing and waiting an hour for a bite, il start again in April 😉

Don't get disappointed joe,went to my local snake lake last week and fed minimal maggots and micros in a cad pot. After 3 and half hours only had 2 tiny skimmers. Freezing my nuts off. Went gung ho and potted in half a pint of maggots in front of the next peg, finished with 3 big ide, two chub and one barbel and 3 f1s.

There is a local water close to me and I reckon the fish love the bait falling through the water. Would it be ok to shot my rig closer to the float and maybe 1 dropper for the slowest fall? Or would you still opt for the tapered shot pattern?
@WinningWays2 жыл бұрын
Your always trying to find a balance between presentation and indication, but the first half of the fall you’re probably not going to be hooking fish so might just end up wasting time.

You mentioned a few times that the rig would be far different on a pellet rig. Would a pellet rig use a 4x14 instead and have a tighter strung out shotting pattern further down the rig? Also I take it you will always use expanders over hair rig in the dead of jan? Fantastic video! Loved it.
@WinningWays2 жыл бұрын
Or a 4x16 depending on depth, but yes the hard pellets are away until it starts improving 👍🏻

@colinbirch18252 жыл бұрын
Did you really need to leave that comment. Just turn it off if you don't like it and wait for the next one. The world's full of negative keyboard bashers .I for one will now resist the temptation to throw a hand full of maggots in at the start, after watching the video. Simply the best fishing channel bar none
@alexdavies97592 жыл бұрын
Why leave such an unkind comment? This was quality content and demonstrates how to catch in tough conditions. Think back 30 years when the only fishing program was “Hooked” on BBC2. We are spoilt for choice today and able to watch the best in their business giving away all of their tips for nothing.
