As much as I'm disappointed with the sequel trilogy as a whole, I acknowledge and respect the hard work that everyone put into the trilogy. I just hope they make more things in the future that'll be loved by the majority of Star Wars fans.

Yeah, I don't really hate nor love the sequels. But I do admire how each movie was done behind the scenes.

I genuinely loved all three sequel films upon first viewing in the theater. I still love "Force Awakens" every time that I rewatch it... just as much, if not more, as the first time I saw it. I enjoy rewatching "The Last Jedi" every so often, but it doesn't have quite the impact with subsequent viewings. As for "Rise of Skywalker"... I had a fun time with it for the first time in the theater; I just took it all in as it unfolded and accepted all of the nonsense. It was big, flashy fun. But I've never finished a rewatch of it. It feels so much like a film made to watch just that one time... Once, in the theater, simply to make that box office money. Trying to rewatch it makes most scenes feel as though they were made simply as a cheap 'pop' for the audience just to drag us along for a very weak story. Once I found out about what could have been Colin Trevarrow's "Duel of the Fates", it upset me even more over what we could have recieved as the final chapter in this epic story. I believe that they should have made that film with a re-cast Leia. I've heard pundits talk about Meryl Streep. I believe, had Disney approached her, and Fisher's family gave their blessing, she probably would have done it, and they could have shown us that story as it was intended. Episode IX could have been a wonderful, fitting end to this saga, yet this film seems so "one cool image after the other, who cares if it makes any sense?!"

For me its not that the sequel trilogy were poorly made films. On the contratry, they a wonderfully made films. The problem I have is that the story was not well structured and they marketed the product using diversity as a gimick and then made the movie about a boring character that skipped Jedi school and all of a sudden was the most powerful there is. Lazy writing, too much deus ex machina. And they killed off Luke in the most unceremonious way possible. A d stop hinting that Finn was a force sensitive. They could have just said that Leia trained him on the side too and boom, two jedi instead of one.

Even this movie despite them caving and trying to appease people who did'nt deserve it, I still found myself really invested and I could see the themes I thought I was seeing woven into Rise of Skywalker despite the checklist approach to what fans kept whinning about in the last two movies.

Things they should’ve done in the sequel trilogy in my opinion: - given us some hints that Palpatine would come back before ROS. - alluded to Rey’s Palpatine lineage at least two times before ROS - Had Rey turn to the dark side. - Given Rose more screen time in ROS - Had Ben Solo redeem himself, save Rey from Palpatine, and they would be together. - paced ROS much better (that’s what killed it) - NOT SIDELINED FINN - NOT SIDELINED POE OR, big pitch, had Rey join the dark side in TLJ and forget about her Palpatine lineage, but she and Kylo Ren would rule together.

Amazing visual effects! I loved it! Star Wars films have always been afraid to explore the deep lore. It was amazing to see a whole sith world in all its depravity.

They killed Luke and Solo..? Brought back Palpatine..? Ray is the Granddaughter of Palpatine (We Didn't know was a family man). Kylo Ren a trained Jedi swordsman from movie one everybody kicked his ass while is at permanetly confusion about his mental state. A small group of rebels (Came from where) fought an Evil empire (pop up from where). Sequel is full of gaps, nontheless We still love Star Wars.

Funny how this "making of" featurette is far better than the actual film that it's about.

I’m sure a lot of work went into Cats and Batman and Robin too. It’s all for nothing if the movie sucks. 😂

watching this it is so CLEAR why these movies failed. Something you hear all through this footage... "We had this idea we thought would be cool." And then they just film scenes around a "cool" idea. To the point that none of the focus is on the story. The story is just a thing to go from one "cool idea" to the next. The amount of DETAIL and THOUGHT shown in this docco is all about props with references, sets with easter eggs, hidden homages and secret cameos. Everything EXCEPT the story has had all its effort drained into it. To the point that there are literally parts in this docco where the story is MADE UP ON THE SPOT based on which prop or set or character JJ thinks is "cool". The result is as you know a complete mess. "Cool" is no match for no effort in the story.

Destroying ALL canon with the obvious move of bringing the emperor back to life like Voldemort. Obvious lazy move that really Disney'd the whole story.
