What if Dooku JOINED Yaddle to FIGHT Palpatine in Tales of the Jedi - Star Wars Theory Fan-Fic

In tales of the jedi we saw the climactic end to yaddles life at the hands of count Dooku. It seemed Yaddle was one of the only Jedi who wasn't disillusioned with politics and disbelief that the Sith had returned. When she followed Dooku to the works which was a secret meeting spot for sidious and his apprentices, she learned of the true nature of Dooku and Sidious intentions to destroy the Jedi. It was here that Dooku was ordered to kill yaddle as a final test of loyalty to Darth sidious, his new master. Before defending herself, she gave Dooku the option to join her and kill sidious. So what if Dooku did join her? That’s what we’ll discover in today’s fan fiction.
Dooku, it’s not too late, you can still right all your wrongs, no matter what you’ve done. I fought for Qui-Gon’s position on the return of the Sith, I believe the council has become disillusioned and engulfed with politics. We can make things right, but you must join me to eliminate this Sith. He is the reason your former Padawan is dead.
Dooku stood there, his back to his new master, Sidious hiding in his cloak. He could feel Dooku’s betrayal festering. Dooku turned to his master. Did you order Qui-Gon to be killed?
He ignited his blue lightsaber along with Yaddle’s green one. Sidious extends both of his hands and ignites his two lightsabers much like he did against Maul and Savage Opress during the clone wars.
Dooku moves with Yaddle, the two slowly moving in opposite directions, surrounding Palpatine.
Sidious keeps each arm outstretched towards Dooku and Yaddle. Taking the first lunge, Dooku steps in and fences Sidious, as Yaddle jumps up and tries to slice Palpatine’s head. The Sith Lord blocks both attackers with ease as he laughs.
Twirling like Yoda does when he fights, Yaddle moves with speed and precision akin to the grand master, as Dooku holds his ground against Sidious. His mastery of form 2 Makashi proves itself in this duel against the most powerful being in the galaxy. Palpatine had mastered all 7 lightsaber fighting forms, yet he was not as good of a swordsman as Dooku. Yaddle flipped and jumped as Dooku pushed his attack. Sidious drawing upon the darkness of the force to move with immense speed. Giving credibility to his name, the shadow. It was hard to keep up with him, and yet Yaddle and Dooku knew to control the pace of the fight, keeping Palpatine on his toes at every swing and block, parrying with ease and precision.
Unfortunately, one misstep and Yaddle would be killed, which is eventually what happened the duel. As she moved to Palpatine’s side, he fired Sith lightning at Dooku and knocked him backwards, focusing his attention on Yaddle and destroying her in a few moves. The Sith Lord was far too powerful and experienced. As Dooku saw her fall, he leapt at Sidious and now the battle was uneven for the Jedi Master.
You will soon join your apprentice for your betrayal. Dooku used all of his training and his experience to battle the Sith Lord, finally disarming him, until Palpatine fired both hands full of Sith lightning at him. The lightsabers weren’t enough to deflect the attack, and Dooku became paralyzed with tendrils of electrical waves coursing his body.
As palpatine turned Dooku into ash, he, had the droids remove the evidence. Getting into his ship, he set a course for Naboo, he had a funeral to attend…
The death of qui-gon jinn came as a surprise to all the Jedi, but not Sidious. He knew the might of his former apprentice, Darth Maul, and could still feel his life force. The sheer hatred and anger that Maul polluted the galaxy with in his halved state kept him alive, but also acted as a beacon for those sensitive enough to find him.
A year after meeting young Anakin Skywalker, Palpatine flew to Lotho Minor to retrieve his former apprentice.
He lives… he said, watching as Maul had turned himself into this monstrosity.
Palpatine took him in and reconstructed his body to give him normal legs. Trained him further in the ways of the dark side and punished him for losing to Kenobi.
Maul would go on to take Dooku’s place but with one problem. Maul didn’t believe they needed droids to win the galaxy over, missing the greater picture of Palpatine’s plan. His only motive was the kill all the Jedi.
Reaching out to Maul via holo projector, he ordered his Apprentice, who was stationed above Coruscant in his Scimitar spaceship, that the time had come, to walk into the Jedi Temple, and destroy the Jedi.
Palpatine spoke into his comm-link to all the Clone Commanders…

Dooku turning to the dark side is such a tragedy. Imagine if Qui-Gon had lived, and Qui-Gon, Dooku, and Yaddle had enough of the Jedi Council's incompetence and so took Anakin, left the order, and went out into shadows of the galaxy to form a new Jedi Order, one that held to the true ways of the Jedi. When Palpatine takes over, they would appear again one day, with new true Jedi, and retake the Galaxy from Sidious, and guide the galaxy under the true will of the Force.

Tales of the Jedi truly felt like original Star Wars. Last time we got content similar to this was Revenge of the Sith. Just subtle things like the scoring, framing, lighting, it all really felt like George’s operatic style. Really hoping Disney is smart and gives Dave another season. Would love to see other Tales some day!

If Dooku joined Yaddle and killed Sidious, Darth Jar-Jar would take Sidious’ place and convert Mace Windu to the dark side. Then you have all the same events as Episodes 1-3, except with Windu and JarJar taking the place of Dooku and Sidious. Support for this theory is the Windu-JarJar arc when they take down an entire, interplanetary magic cult.

Here’s a ‘what if’ I thought of after watching Tales. What if Dooku and Qui Gon started a new order together? Rather than Dooku bringing Qui Gon to the dark side, Dooku denounces the Sith and the Jedi order. In this scenario, Qui Gon is ALMOST killed by Maul. This is what causes Dooku to go directly to his old apprentice. Mace Windu spearheads a campaign against Dooku for the crimes he’d already committed up to that point. Sidious sees Dooku as a loose end in his plot to defeat the Jedi. Dooku, Qui Gon, and their new order based on truth must fight against both the Jedi and the Sith.

Where does that leave Obi-Wan and Anakin? Would they have joined this order? Anakin would probably go with Qui Gon, but would Anakin? They didn't always agree. Ahsoka would've not become Anakin's apprentice either. Would Plo-Koon have been her master?

The only reason he was trained in the first place is that Obi-Wan refused to break his promise to fulfill Qui Gon's dying wish, despite the council's objections. I'm wondering more if Obi-Wan would've left the order if his master left and asked him to join him.

I think that more likely scenario would be that Yaddle would die (as you said, she lost even against Dooku) and that Dooku wouldn't manage to kill Sidious, nor win against him, however I do think that he'd be able to recognize when he's outmatched and would escape the situation, just like he did when he was outmatched by Yoda. He'd topple part of the building on top of Palpatine, and while Palpatine would try to save himself, Dooku would jump to the platform with Yaddle's ship (his own ship is to close to Palpatine, Palpatine might manage to cut its' engines with lightsaber) and escape. What he would do after that I'm not sure of. Yaddle as well as Qui-Gon are dead so he has noone that he could trust, and probably very few who would tolerate his crimes at that point. So it's pretty safe to say that he wouldn't go to the council right away. I think he'd try to get few Jedi whom he felt he could trust (I can think of only Kenobi) and talk to them about this first, and Palpatine would try to get rid of Dooku in some other way. He'd probably work out accusation against Dooku that he is the sith lord and that he's responsible for Yaddle's death.

But Dooku already displayed enough wisdom to run from a fight that he realized he couldn't win. And considering that he ran from Yoda when he was more skilled in the dark side, then he'd definitelly try to run from Palpatine at this point.

@@fanta4897 no becauee in the new canon Dooku specifically mentions that he learned about strategic retreats from his master, Sidious. "Stories of the light and dark" canon book has Dooku covering the Dooku captures episodes. He talks about Anakins anger, and how that he could play a role in their plans. And yes again he mentions retreating, as something Palpatine taught him.

So here’s my take on the fanfic so far: There is a slim chance that Yaddle and Dooku could have survived this duel with Sidious because while I do agree they could not defeat him, Yaddle was on the Jedi High Council and those on the Council aren’t on there just because they were recommended by outside influences (looking at you Anakin). Also, Dooku is not only one of the best swordsmen in the Order, he’s also a powerful force user. While he might not be on the same level as Anakin, Sidious or Yoda, he could have done something.

Good points! Personally, I think that Dooku is calculating enough to realize he was in trouble as soon as Yaddle went down, and rather than attack Sidious in rage, Dooku would have tried to escape (and might have managed it). The question is where would he go from there? Obi-Wan would listen to him, but is too inexperienced and doesn't have enough cred with the council yet. Would he go to his other former student, and either present to the council together or form a third, rogue element? Or would this have shaken him enough that he would go to his own former master and confess his crimes to Yoda (personally and privately) in the hopes of rallying the kind of force that could take Sidious on? So many ways we could take this, lol

I think Palpatine was either very careless by meeting Dooku in person while leaving the door to the hangar open for anyone to spy on them or jump them, or he was fully prepared for such an outcome with either a foolproof escape plan or a way to stack the deck in his favour if it came to blows.

I always wondered what would have been if when anikan said I’m going to turn you in, if the emperor would have called to execute order 66 and then anikan (the chosen one) would defend the Jedi at the temple, probably still fail against the clone army but then years later after restarting the Jedi order raise and army of Jedi to help the rebels against the emperor

Part 2 idea: Maul and Sidious storm the temple, but Anakin, Obi-Wan and Mace are all still there of course, likely at the forefront of the battle first but then retreating to protect the younglings when they realised they could defeat the sith then and there. I think, come the time that Maul and Sidious reach the council room, Sidious would be able to distract Anakin with promises to save Padmé. While Skywalker is occupied, Maul would launch an attack from the side, bowing in the masters, younglings, adn jedi knight. It would be very close, but Maul and Sidious would take down Mace without significant injury, and then round on Kenobi. As skillful as Obi-Wan was with soresu, even his defense eventually fell to Sidious' attacks (at this point Anakin was busy defending a small group of remaining younglings from Maul). Anakin would see Sidious preparing to strike the final blow and force push maul against the far wall, similarly to how Sidious did in the main timeline. Anakin would use force speed to rush across to Kenobi and block Sheev's blow - inches from Obi-Wan's face. Sidious would back away, having seen Anakin's treatment of Maul, and try and use mindgames, threatening to end the younglings if Anakin didn't strike down his master and join Sidious. Right before Anakin had a chance to decide, Yoda appeared, green saber humming softly. Palpatine turned to face his rival, and engaged his own saber, only now drawing his second blade, not having needed it previously. With a flick of his wrist, he disarmed the distracted Kenobi (in both senses). Maul rushed at Anakin, Yoda rushed at Palpatine, and the room flashed with the power of their collision. Kenobi would grab the younglings and run, escaping via an unsupervised Y-wing. After a prolonged battle, Anakin would defeat Maul, in much the same way Kenobi had, over a decade prior. Grabbing Maul's fallen saber, Anakin went to the Grand Master's aid. All the time that their proteges had been battling, Sidious and Yoda had been evenly matched - perhaps with Sheev taking superiority by a whisker -, but now with Anakin's help, perhaps Yoda might win?... I'd absolutely love to see more explored with Jango surviving! Maybe he ends up being arrested shortly after, so Palpatine organises The Bounty Hunter's Guild including Cad Bane, Aura Sing, Bossk and even Boba Fett to break him out Maybe he even sees Jango as a liability, so orders the three bounty hunters to use Boba to get to him, before attempting to kill them both So many opportunities could open up even without Jango being arrested! Hopefully you give this a read and like what you see, really looking forward to the next part!

I believe he would've taken another apprentice after dooku's death, maybe a nightsister this time or even morher talzin herself, seems to me that he wouldn't go back and search for maul but rather explore different options

@@vikingsword3485 Talzin was stronger than Palpatine, she declined being his apprentice before. Hence he stole Maul. Palpatine kept this in mind and made sure to fight her with Dooku, Grevious and an army. She stalemated both Dooku and Sidious force lighting with her force magic.

Oooh!~ I'm looking forward to Part 2. Although, I had a different scenario in mind for "Dooku joins Yaddle." Rather than the two of them simply taking Sidious head-on and getting utterly annihilated, maybe they retreat after realizing how outmatched they are so they can warn the Jedi council with holographic evidence of Sidious fighting them, or maybe the fight causes so much noise and commotion that the Jedi take notice and send in a platoon to investigate, forcing Sidious to flee.

I don't have much for part 2, but I doubt Anakin's going to be falling to the dark side any time soon at this point. When he gets back to the temple, he finds it's under attack, and that he's been betrayed, perhaps with Maul even taunting him during their duel that he squandered his chance at greatness. Now I'm not saying Anakin wouldn't dip into darkness during all this, but he wouldn't fall, because he would see this as the ultimate betrayal by someone he trusted more than anyone, and would resist the fall out of pure rebellious stubbornness on his part, which we see is another major part of his character throughout the clone wars. Point is I don't see Anakin going to the Dark Side in this timeline.

Yaddle was a Soresu user, master of defense (as opposed to Yoda's more offensive Ataru), and Dooku a Makashi user, master lightsaber duelist. I'd say they were an ideal counter for Sidious' abilities and he wouldn't have had nearly so simple a victory.

Just cliff notes but I think the gist is: Maul dies during the duel against Anakin, Mace, and Kenobi Kenobi is knocked out of the temple (but survives thanks to bail who goes to investigate) Palpatine convinces Anakin to betray Mace so he can save Padme) Mace dies. But more jedi manage to escape since Anakin was busy dueling. After the battle Anakin tried to go into the master archive but cant get access right away thanks to a security hack placed by the still living Jango on Palpatines orders. Anakin is sent to Mustafar. Obiwan and a few other jedi survivors meet up with Yoda. They review the footage but thanks to the audio they hear what Palpatine said to convince Anakin. Now knowing the Motivation, Obi-Wan goes to find Anakin to turn him back to the light on the promise of looking for a way to keep Padme alive via the master archive. Yoda and a couple other Jedi survivors go to confront Sidious. Anakin talks with Obi-Wan. Hes elated to see hes alive and thus He doesnt immediately go into a rage because Padme isnt there to make him think hes being betrayed. The brotherly bond of Obi-Wan is just enough to talk Anakin down. Yodas jedi help all fall one by one to Palpatine until its just the 2 of them. Both master exhausted from the battle, Palpatine uses the clones to come in and drive Yoda away. Anakin and Kenobi go into the archives and find the sabatoged security. After getting past it with R2's help they search the records. They find force healing. Seeing this chance Anakin is relieved. There is a chance to save Padme. A wounded Yoda arrives and tells them they must leave. As the try Palpatine arrives with Jango. Its time for the final choice. A final duel begins. But who wins? Who dies?

Please do more What Ifs! They're, IMHO, the best thing on your channel: What if the padawan who was killed in front of Bail Organa while escaping the massacre actually survived and was able to flee with Bail? What if Anakin, soon to be a father himself, was unable to go through with killing younglings at the temple? What if Darth Vadar was able to sense that Leia was his daughter in A New Hope? What if Padme actually loved Obi-wan and cheated on Anakin with him, and Luke & Leia were really Obi-wan's children? What if Anakin risked being expelled from the Jedi Order (or actually was expelled) and jumped off the airship after Padme in Attack of the Clones? And what if he went on to found a new Force order that didn't forego attachments?

Maul and Sidius fighting together would be EPIC! I think they would sweep all the jedi away in a flurry of blades and force lightning. Question, with Maul learning more from Sidius, would he learn Force Lightning? He has the rage for it and his hands are intact.

Great fan fiction. For part 2 I think that Yoda and Mace Windu would fight Sidious and with this overwhelming force and the help of shatterpoint I think Mace would end up killing Sidious. On the other hand, Anakin and Obi-Wan would fight Maul and Anakin would kill Maul. This would lead to the senate going against the Jedi and the Jedi would go back to who they were a millennia ago before they were pawns of the senate. They would become what Jedi should be similar to Qui-Gon Jinn.
