as i know using vmware type softwre requires heavy processors... is it so.....????

Not exactly, but it depends upon system specifications. If you are using multiple instances at a time. So, It requires that kind of specification.

why ip addresses are not assigned to switches ?

This is Generic Layer 2 switches and for this scenario it was not needed to put ip address in Switch. For assigning ip address in Switch we should choose Layer 3 switches.
