After 70+ years many do not want to celebrate. I enjoy the holidays for what their intended. Thanksgiving can be everyday and Christmas can be too. Both to me are based on love and thankfulness.❤🌹❤ They can become too materialistic. Though I will admit, holidays can be very hard. Especially when you are missing those you love who are no longer with us.🕊😇🕊

I enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays this time of year, but in my family we gave each other the gift of no gift giving about 10 years ago when my dad's health took a nosedive and I became his caregiver. No one needs more debt or stress in their life (or stuff). We focused instead on being together and making memories before he passed. Best thing we ever did.

The only holiday that I truly love and enjoy is Thanksgiving. I can easily pass on all others especially Christmas. Although when my sons were little, we did do all the Christmas things - decor, tree, baking/cooking, hosting and gifts for all. It was more emotionally and mentally draining than it was physical. Now that they are grown and out of the house, I don't decorate or put up tree, and for the past couple of years haven't hosted Christmas eve or day dinner. I actually like being a "hermit" during Christmas. 😑It has been cold and raining all day here in Contra Costa County. I was watching your video while cooking a big pot of chicken and vegetables soup and now I'm enjoying it while reading the comments. 😊 Thanks for another day in your life and coffee video, Scott ☕🍵🌻have a great rest of the week.

I worked at a place and the boss bought a real espresso machine. Pull piston and everything. However it was my job to empty the 5 gallon plastic water jug they used as drain line. Think spittoon. It was great until the spot jar was half full and needed emptying.

Hi Scott. Great to see your video tonight. I think you are referring to Scrooge as the curmudgeon. Never one of my favorite characters even when I was young. It's unfortunate that many of us as we age don't even see the remaining family we still have. As so in my case. This will be my 8th year alone for Christmas. It's OK. I wish it were different, but I enjoy being by myself too. I make the best of it. And as you said, no need to spend money I don't really have anymore on presents. With my little tiny dog, Simba, who is a Morkie, we will enjoy our day together. A Morkie is a Yorkie/Maltese mix. He's only 2 years old and SO adorable. He will make my Christmas sparkle again this year! Scott, have a wonderful holiday and a beautiful walk. Merry Christmas

We seem 2 hav a lot in common. The Bay Area is my favorite area in my fave state. I wz born in Redding. We livd in a couple mining towns after that. Gold Run, Dutch Flat, etc. Lived in Grass Valley age 2-8. NW AZ after that. Then Michigan & now back 2 NW AZ when the Hubster retired. No celebrating holidays. I like being a loner too. Prbly bcz wz an only child & now in my 60's I find out I m an Aspie. I ❤️ the rain as well. I get off on tangents, too. Ha !

The weather has been sunny and clear (I think there's only been one day of actual rain this whole time), and while that is nice to a point, being the Washingtonian I am, I really miss a good drenching.

I agree with you about living and preferring a simple life. I only celebrate holidays with food. I walked down to Pike Place Market today for local skinless chicken breasts and think I will make a whole chicken with roasted vegetables for Christmas day followed by a nice walk. I prefer looking at things now rather than filling up my small space with trinkets.

I don't really buy Christmas presents for people anymore either (although I do for my cat). I use my paper filter more than once thanks to seeing you do it. I have been thinking of trying the Aeropress reusable filter. I am also an introvert and love being alone for the holidays and love how quiet the ambient atmosphere is on those days.

Nice video Scott. I enjoyed watching it as I listened to the heavy rain we are having here tonight. I love people and love to be around them but not all the time. I have a strong need to sometimes just be by myself. I walk almost everyday and sometimes some of my neighbors want to walk with me. I don’t say no but I mostly prefer walking by myself except for some of my family but they don’t live that close to me so I don’t often get the chance to walk with any of them. Scott, you love your coffee! I have been absent, I apologize. I am in construction and Harbor Freight is my choice these days for hand tools and even their battery tools are solid. Sign up online and get their sale items. I have been running back and forth, Boston to Pensacola in my 2010 Ford Transit Connect. My van is not even remotely set up like your but being able to pull over and go to sleep for me is most enjoyable. I agree on Christmas which has been commercialized why too much. I don't celebrate the holidays primarily for religious reasons, but I believe that the consumerism pushed on us by corporations is a way to control our spending and their bottom line. They get richer off others being so ready to go into debt during the holidays. Do your thing Scott. I support your decision and applaud it. AND thank you for the French Press demo. It’s the dry season here in north Florida just a few days rain so far to speak of . Best of all hurricane and tornado season has passed . I’ve a decent socket set including deep ones and the case plus a wrench set all fit under my passenger seat . Handy to have also is that little magnet on a telescoping rod for the nuts and bolts that get away ! ☕

Flying Goat makes good coffee. Big River is another local brand in Santa Rosa that I really enjoy. If you're headed west to the coast via River Road, Gold Coast Coffee is another great spot to grab some beans.
