"What does a stator do on an ATV? The stator/rotor assembly is collectively known as an alternator. In simple terms, the stator generates the electricity that powers the battery in a motorcycle, ATV or side-by-side, and is therefore responsible for powering the vehicle itself." For those who are wonder'n what that thingy is/was.....:)

If theirs an oil seal anywhere near the stator id change it thats definately oil it must be leaking oil from a seal there i only come to that conclusion considering everything else is clean considering the stator should be a shiny copper maybe because the plug was a bit burnt up the top was becsuse all the oil was screwing with the power output

Yep, just when you think you've got everything you need for the job, you end up finding that one thing you forgot to or should've gotten while getting the parts. LOL I laugh cause I've been there & done that several times over the years. Stay safe.

Great information and wrenching work on the Kawasaki I'm on this job today the torque specs on the pulley bolt is only 89lbs why the heavy duty DeWalt impact won't take the pulley bolt off is beyond me my DeWalt impact will take off 150lbs of torqued bolts or nuts off and I can't get my pulley bolt off today! 😂 I don't have the air impact like you do I Hate working on Brute force machine's! 😂 great video!

What drove you to target the stator? If I remember it just quit running while you were spraying.
@farmertylerranch4399
@farmertylerranch4399 4 жыл бұрын
Few things, the brand new battery died after running all day, the fan started turning slow, numerous electrical items started behaving weird, and the motor didn’t quit just wouldn’t run right so figured weak spark. All signs point to the charging system!

When you run into a snag, a 20 lb sledge hammer and a crowbar can usually get you where you want to go. No guarantees about getting back, though.

Can I ask what some of the symptoms were with this project? My dad is having issues with his 2012 750 v twin brute force , it has sat for over a month and it fired right up we took it for a ride about 2 miles long there and back and when we pulled into camp he shut it off to let it cool , when he went to start it it was like the battery was stone cold dead , it has a new battery less then a yr old, new silenoid hes being told , the voltage regulator is the issue or the starter, and stater , he don't want to just throw a bunch of parts at it not knowing or having a clue , can u give us some advice or pointers here ?
@farmertylerranch4399
@farmertylerranch4399 4 жыл бұрын
If you have a volt meter it should be fairly easy to narrow it down. Assuming you haven’t done anything to it since it died in camp, put the tester on the battery. With the engine off it should read just over 12 volts (like 12.2 or 12.3). If it’s low odds are the stator is bad and not charging. To double check this, charge the battery up and start the engine. At idle your battery should read around 14 volts on the volt meter if the stator is working properly. If the battery won’t charge or smells like sulfur, then the voltage regulator isn’t working and it cooked the battery. If the battery checks out good and the quad still won’t start then my guess is the starter is bad. Lastly, the moment I looked at and smelled the stator I knew that was the issue! It sounds like it’s the starter in your case. With a stator issue the quad would have started running bad, lights quit working, fan runs slow or not at all, then the engine would die on its own. And on a fully charged battery it would have taken hours for these symptoms to arise. Good luck!

@@farmertylerranch4399 thanks for the advice and for getting back to me after doing this I found the voltage regulator not doing what it is supposed to be doing and the voltage before the start was 12.38 volts while running the voltage just dropped and continued to there was 15.4 at the stator and nothing coming from the regulator so that leads me to believe the voltage regulator crapped out on him . New one is ordered and will be here soon thanks again
