Back when I played a lot last year, I was highly aware of this and would always swap my gear around (with the add on) depending on if it was a dungeon, pvp, or raid. Not for everyone of course cuz lots of people just like to play casual.

Yeah you obviously don’t need optimized gear for dungeons. Just something fun to think about and experiment with.

On the topic of useless stats, I have a hit cap question for PvP. Does additional hit above 5% for a melee class in PvP help when fighting a class that has talents that increase your chance to miss? For example Arcitic Winds on a Mage, or even a racial like Quickness for Night Elves. I was told by a guild member that there was a Blue Post back in TBC that said hit rating does not mitigate talents like Arctic WInds and that you'll always have a 5% chance to miss if a mage has 5/5 points in Arctic Winds even if you had 10% hit. But I can't track down the Blue Post so I'm not sure, but would definitely like a solid answer as I start to plan my PvP gear out.

i think is mostly because if you don't have the addon to instantly swap gear it gets funky and also people forget to re equip their boss gear. Imagine people can't use active trinkets can't imagine swapping gear between situations

Its -0.20 crit chance per level. That would be ~ 8 resil or 12 defense rating per level below 73.

There used to be more of a discrepancy but with endgame gear it's like impossible to not have a lot of extra spell hit, even in trash sets
