Thanx for sharing! I totally agree with you, the 24 cm "normal hight" is a good fit for a family of 3 to 4. I also considered that higher model, but decided against it. Now I own a 24 cm cocotte in that beautyful deep grenadine red colour. One of my first meals was boeuf bourguignon a classic french dish. Very tasty!

Hi, I'm a bit late, but Happy Chinese New Year. I thought of your channel because zwilling site has their sale this weekend - the 7qt is only $150. I have the standard 4 and 5qt and did not think to get the tall one as I thought it may be too restricting. I can now see its benefits. Maybe when it goes on sale again, I will pick one up. This size of perfecto bake, I would recommend the matte black, making bread can make the pot look messy.. black matte forgives all sins

Get what colors you like. I got a Staub in cherry and never used it because I hated the color. Great pan though.

I just received this red tall cocotte and when I unboxed it I noticed a little chip on the lid on the s of the word staub. I'm not sure if the chip will get bigger during use. Since you are experienced with this product what would you suggest I do. The price was very reasonable at 149.00. Will it just be a cosmetic issue and not to worry about the product being compromised? Kind of was a disappointment.

Hi Linda, I had a Cocotte that was also chipped. However, if the chip were made before they had applied the top clear coat then I would say don’t worry about it. If it is chipped after the top coat then it might be an issue in the long run. You may notice rusting in the future. May I ask where did you purchase this piece?

@@chsulie I ordered it from Amazon. I think I learned a lesson to not shop there again for another piece of staub. I will buy from Zwilling or Williams and Sonoma. I guess best thing to do since I'm not sure when the chip happened I will send it back, better safe than sorry! Thank you so much Marc for your reply to me, I really value your opinion. Would the tall 5q be be enough to do a small roast chicken?

I would say so only if you don’t put anything else in the cocotte. If you are looking at the 5qt, then you might want to consider the 26cm 5qt Cocotte.

I didn’t know it was the year of the Tiger. Even though I don’t believe in horoscopes I will be motivated this year. I am a Fire Tiger (‘86) One of benefits of this 24cm that wasn’t I. The video is that you can cook more volume on a smaller hob. My stove has 1 big hob and 2 smaller ones and 1 oval one. On the big hob I can be cooking one main dish using my bigger Cocotte and on the smaller hob I can be making a soup or a vegetable side dish simultaneously.
