It was my understanding that the new business model does not prefer loyal workers that intend on staying put in their jobs. The new model is the "revolving door" of hiring new employees, using them while they are eager, then getting rid of them before it comes time for their raise. I don't see why any worker would tolerate that business model and there is backlash to that business model. No one cares about their jobs or the consequences of doing subpar work. Why should they? @@toxicity6629 yes we have schemes like that here too in the UK , they used to have us on YTS ( supposed Youth Training Schemes ) you would earn £25 a week with NO training , they got cheap labour and no matter how hard you tried to please your boss , you would not get hired on a full or even part time basis at the end of the year . We were used and exploited and it's still going on now but they just simply give it a different title/name . If you go down the volunteer route it's even worse and you get treated like THEY are doing YOU a big favour by helping them out , not having your travel costs covered or even a thank you , truly sad state of affairs

I was unaware. My wife's company requires her to sign an employment contract, which basically states that anyone can be fired for taking a sick day (after the 3 they give you), no matter how sick you may be (hard to believe I know, but that is what it says). I personally don't want my sick coworkers coming in and infecting me, but this contract will certainly push that circumstance. Looked into it, and in the state of Georgia it is perfectly legal (and VERY common). Previously, I though unions had played an important role in the past, but may not be necessary in today's market. I've changed my mind on that. Employers routinely push policies that show a blatent disregard for employees well being. I guess greed is the underlying driver on this; I honestly don't understand it. A friend who works in the cafe across the street from my job confronted her boss about a raise. The boss made the announcement to everyone in the break room, no one gets a raise unless you are vaccinated. 6 major employees walked out, leaving two employees to fill orders. Too many opinionated people in the comments are blaming lazy young people for this problem. They lack critical thinking and have no knowledge on how bad the situation is and that it affects everyone. Since 1980 wages have no kept up with the cost of housing, schooling, healthcare and other essentials. Good paying jobs cant even buy you a house in most major cities. Yep I do stocks and we had major telling signs of a crash back in mid 2019 when the treasury notes 10 year vs 2 year started to rise. It doesn’t matter what causes the crash but there seems to be a pattern every 7-10 years of a market crash. Personally I think the pandemic wasn’t our crash but it accelerated the impending crash which we are priming ourselves for a worse crash than 2008 which our same indicators were shown in 2006.

If overtime pay wasn't mandated by an overreaching government, i would be working 50-60 hrs/week at my main job right now, and not 35 hours there and 15-20 at a different gig. You can't blame companies not wanting to be forced to pay more than they have to. Overtime is one of those tax scams the government pulls to make it seem like the working man is actually scoring a win. Really, it stifles the economy. Not to say there aren't other factors, but that is a big one in the scenario you mentioned.

We have to work overtime because they don't want to hire more people that will get benefits. They also want to pay us less per hour than the people that work in our main plant. They've done the math and literally all most companies would have do is increase prices by PENNIES to maintain the same profits and pay a decent wage. It was my understanding that the new business model does not prefer loyal workers that intend on staying put in their jobs. The new model is the "revolving door" of hiring new employees, using them while they are eager, then getting rid of them before it comes time for their raise. I don't see why any worker would tolerate that business model and there is backlash to that business model. No one cares about their jobs or the consequences of doing subpar work. Why should they? There is no future for them.

This happened to my son in NC. He was laid off during the pandemic, and assumed it was covid related. After he received the expanded benefits, he got a letter that his employer didn't let him go for the pandemic--they'd fired him. He was never told! He was expected to pay back the money--which had allowed him to rent an apartment and survive his unemployment. He fought it in court, and the court sided with him. But the former employer wouldn't let it go, and continued to insist he wasn't entitled to the benefits. If I could remember their name I would gladly shame them here. Screwing over poor people with no recourse isn't right. But thanks *850financial assessment* helped me receive mine without having to pay it back or be held in the court

My niece's husband was working for a pipeline company that went under. Making $10.50 an hour. He was let go for whatever reasons, don't know. He applied at a company that puts up concrete walls on highways. He went from making$10.50 an hour with one job, to making $35.50 on this new job. They paid us $7.25 per hour, with only 1 to 2 people working at a time. They sold between 2k to 10k per day and when she called at closing time to ask for the day's sales, she wanted us to be excited about it, despite the lack of commission or bonuses. I took the gig for a little extra cash and because it was a cute environment but didn't stay long.

I want to get my late payment history corrected but not sure how disputing with the credit bureaus affects the active account if they cannot verify the information to be accurate, I wouldn't have been able to take them off if not me meeting *Credit Backdoors*

I have 2 chapter 11’s that are dismissed. The reason I have 2 is bcz I did not use an attorney. I was trying to stop an eviction, but when I went to try to add another month’s rent to the bankruptcy, but the guy filed another one. About a month later, I ended up losing my job. They are overworked and under stress. These greedy long-term care facilities and nursing homes are only about money. They do not care about your loved ones. I have made so many phone calls to the state to complain, and crickets. I am burnt out myself and considering going into real estate. The CEOs of some of these long-term care facilities are living like royalty while the people that keep them afloat are making pennies.

New hires get 2/3 less pay that the old timers. They do the exact same job and will NEVER make the same as the old timers. New hires are not offered retirement, not even mentioned during the inbrief. Sure they can contribute to buying stock in the company. Since then their wages have stagnated for 40 years, but CEO wages have increased handsomely. The track we are on now is unsustainable. Historically, about 70% of our GDP has depended on consumers buying stuff. CEOs don't spend nearly as much of their income on consumer products as the mass of workers do - they can not keep the economy afloat by themselves. I am a hard worker, and was saying this 10 years ago, and I agree with this. The nation needs a standard full time shift from 5 days a week to 4 days a week. Full time should be 34 - 36 hours instead of 40 hours. Go down to 4 days/8.5 or 9 hours per day, and give people 3 days a week off. It would also have a big impact on vehicle emissions and decrease overall traffic everywhere.

Yea Navy federal gave me a really high limit. I applied and was denied at first so I got a *850financial assessment* service , and I was approved for a capital one. The limit was so small lol but I took it and worked on it. Because if that it helped my credit and I believe that’s what made me finally get approved for navy fed with such a high limit. they're still working on increasing the capital one since it was so low. All in all I’m satisfied.

Back in the 50s and 60s, you could get a job that lasted you a lifetime - you could get a promotion based on your actual work ethic and effort. You could pay your mortgage from one single job and afford to actually buy a home back then. Now you have to have at least 2 jobs just to pay the rent as buying a home is just so far out of most people's reach. The low end jobs are not guaranteed and a boss can fire you anytime. Of course people want to change their circumstances. You know how people keep putting down fast food workers, retail and restaurant workers? Well they have listened and had enough. Good on em I say! No it’s because people these days don’t want to actually have to work for something. They want to walk in off the street and make $100,000 with free benefits and 20 weeks of vacation. Some people just don’t want to work and make every excuse. The biggest examples are micro breweries. We literally have thousands of them in Wisconsin. They set up shop and within a couple of years they are out of business because it’s a hot ticket item to start and people realize it’s just the same beer they can buy anywhere.

The janitor makes the same amount as the person researching vaccines and other drugs. Would you like any one in any field to be paid the same amount as someone at McDonalds? At that point why would anyone work in any college degree field. Now even if you slashed a CEO's few million dollar salary, the average worker would not see a cent. The money would just be reallocated to other sectors of the company. I also highly doubt the raise would motivate a worker to work harder. Money does not motivate people, purpose motivates people.

@@KnightGlint Benefits, pay, and working conditions motivate people. Many companies are beholden to stockholders, not workers. Someone should be able to work a full-time service job and be able to afford rent and transportation, which they are not able to do in many parts of the country. The US has a huge income gap that is unsustainable.
