If you don’t know the first thing about whiskey, and you’re buying a gift for a whiskey enthusiast, just don’t buy them whiskey at all, because the odds are you are buying them a bottle that they would never purchase themselves. The best gift you can give is either a gift card for their favorite liquor store or cash 😂 PS, if you absolutely must buy me a bottle, I could use a backup bottle of Russell’s 15 😉

No to whiskey rocks, but yes to the frozen gel cups that keep your drink cold. I got one and use it for all my mixed drinks because it keeps the drink nice and cold without having ice in it.

Having a serious interest like whiskey can make it both hard and easy for people to buy gifts. It depends on how well they know you (or how sneaky they are in finding out your preferences). I have gotten a lot of whiskey-related gifts, some better than others. Regarding your suggestions: --Tee shirts (I would add hats to this category): If the person already wears whiskey tee-shirts/hats frequently AND you know of a distillery they like, I would say getting a distillery tee-shirt can be a good gift. But generic ones like the "I [heart] whiskey and boobs" shirt would be a no (yes, those actually exist). -Specific bottles: Those are all good solid suggestions. It is hard to get a bottle that will be special to a whiskey nerd. Best if you can hint around or listen to them when they rant about bottles they like or missed out on or just killed to find a bottle they will really like. Here are some other great gifts I have gotten: --Whiskey books. I have been gifted several, including "Pappyland" and "Southern Spirits" which I have enjoyed. --Liquor store gift cards instead of specific bottles. I have gotten these and when I use them, I make sure to tell the giver, "I'm really enjoying this bottle of XYZ that I got with your gift card. Thanks a lot." --Gift cards to good whiskey bars in their area. I have gotten these and it makes it easy to try somewhere new, or to enjoy a new pour at a favorite bar. You didn't mention whiskey Advent calendars. I have not bought one but a lot of people really enjoy them. I do a collaborative one with a couple of friends each year and it is an absolute blast. One thing I’d add to the scotch is 12 year should be your minimum age statement. If you can swing it 14 to 18 year is the sweet spot
