Similar here, had snows and soon after, 50s and 60s ... and I completely forgot about pre-emergent. It'll have to be next weekend. I don't even care about rain. It can sit there on dry grass for all I care until it DOES rain. Or I may apply on wet grass; it'll still dissolve. Spectracide Weed Stop For Lawns Plus Crabgrass Preventer is cheap enough that it need not be perfect. I do have to travel to get it however, about 40 minutes each way and that weekends only. Last year was the first I ever paid attention to the lawn. This Winter when the Bermuda went to sleep I finally realized what I had: Large random chunks are not Bermuda, the rest is. I was tempted to see how I might get rid of the non-Bermuda. Maybe next Winter.

@BudgetLawns9 ай бұрын
Congrats on the home. I don’t get too concerned with weeds this time of year. If they’re not completely overtaking the yard, you could go ahead and apply pre emergent and spot treat existing ones when the weather is warm enough. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

In transition zone and interested in this product as both pre and post emergents. We are expecting rain starting early Monday morning. The lawn will be mowed sometime today or tomorrow. Should we apply on Sun morning when the lawn is wet from morning dew and wait to let the early Monday morning rain to water it in, less than 24 hrs after application, or should we water it in immediately after putting it down? Please help. New subscriber! Tia.
@BudgetLawns7 ай бұрын
It needs to be applied to damp or dewy grass and not be watered or disturbed for at least 24 hours for post emergent control. So your timeline is cutting it close to rain with an application on Sunday morning. Only water in immediately if using as a pre emergent. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and subscribing.
@bettyjean-do8cy7 ай бұрын
Wow, thanks for the quick reply. Follow-up questions: since we have some weeds in the lawn, is it too late to use as a pre-emergent? If so, using as a post emergent will require no rain within 24hrs after application, right? Tia
@BudgetLawns7 ай бұрын
@@bettyjean-do8cy No, it's not too late for a pre-emergent. Some weeds may have already popped through, but it will help prevent others. For post-emergent, yes, you don't want it to rain within 24 hours after applying.

Really just depends on where you're at and what your long range forecast looks like. Lots of variables at play, but as I said in the video, there's never really a bad time. Only real bad times are when seeding, sodding, or just flat out needlessly overapplying. We want to be responsible with our use. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

@BudgetLawns8 ай бұрын
You need to decide if you're going to try to seed your bare areas this spring. Most folks prefer fall for seeding cool season grass. It's not too late to apply pre emergent. You may be too late for some weeds that have already germinated, but you can stop others. You can also spot treat your trouble areas with a weed killer. Mowing a lot will help control weeds as well. Hope this helps.
