When I was younger I used to travel alot and I used to book myself into the cheapest place quite regularly mainly because I knew I would only be spending less then 24hr in that town or city because I'd be waiting for the next coach or train to my main destination. I've only had somewhat 1 bad experience and that was In a hostel in Inverness Scotland. The rooms were very dirty and looked alot like a large communal prison cell and also I was half convinced it was a front for something because I was the only guest who didn't actually live there and was also one of the few who was in the country legally.
