@@vivmomsews4962 thank you so much for the prayers. I find out this week if I have to have surgery on my knee. I feel blessed I wasn’t hurt worse than I was. I’ve been sewing on and off for years. Did tons of heirloom sewing when my daughter and nieces were little. I live on a farm and I made tons of riding breeches for the kids. They are expensive ready made and I would purchase deer skin on eBay or use synthetic leather to make the seat part of the pants. These pants are basically leggings. Anyway I haven’t made those in about 10 years. Lately I’ve made just fun things- bags of all sorts, kitchen stuff, aprons, some home dec stuff. I have turned my dining room into a really nice sewing room. Friends think that’s crazy but it’s a better use for the room and it’s close to the kitchen! Excellent that you exercised today!!! Keep that up. Thank you again for inspiring me and for the trips down memory lane! I just love it!!! Thank you too for the prayers. I sure need them right now. 😘

Wow you've really been on the go since you "came back". I hope you enjoyed your time off and got some rest. I especially wanted to thank you for the uplifting talk you gave a while back about being in a slump. You see, I am in a slump. Mine started when I got very sick in November (not covid) and since then I just can't seem to get back to sewing. I have a quilt that is 3/4 done and a dress that is 3/4 done and I can't seem for the life of me to finish them. You told me not to beat myself up though, and I'm trying not to. I'm sure it will just magically happen someday soon, or at least that's what I'm going with. Until then as you advised I'm keeping my head in the game and trying not to be mad at myself. Keep on with you bad sewing and posting self, and thanks again for the kind words.

Hi Vernie! So sorry to hear you had a bad time with sickness in November. That can be hard to bounce back from, and its best to give yourself some space. It matters not, in the grand scheme of life, when your projects get done. And if they’re hanging over you like a black cloud, show them who’s boss and pick up a new project. You’ll get to them eventually. I speak from personal experience! We’d all love to produce, produce, produce, but that ain’t how it works. So get stronger, take care of yourself and concentrate on how far you’ve come. I wish you a full recovery and a happy new year! Thanks so much for writing.🌷

Very chic outfits. I especially like the p.j. topper (it looks so rich and the color palette is a classic) followed by the "groovy" asymmetrical top. I like skinny pants too. Since the good Lord has decided that should carry my weight in my stomach skinny pants and tunic length tops are my most flattering choices. I'm excited that you and Joy are collaborating and I hope to participate this time.

Glad to hear you’re up for a challenge, Linda! I think just about any woman would second the tunic & leggings combo. Comfortable + flattering = win! Thanks for calling my outfits chic!!😃

You outdid yourself Viv with these makes. Love them all but my fave is the asymmetrical print top! Boy does that top flatter you. You looked great in them all.

Beautiful - I just got the Butterick nightwear to make something for my mom - maybe I'll do a shorter version of the robe for her to wear too! What a great idea! I also have the Simplicity wardrobe and want to do the dress, even more now that I've seen you do it. I have a Sandra Betzina wardrobe (ancient pattern) that has that same "silhouette" as the S8548 - gotta try that because I always wear dresses. Such good advice, too - that's what I've always told new moms. Get out of the sweatpants and put on some lip gloss or mascara, you'll feel infinitely better!
@vivmomsews49623 жыл бұрын
You’re a wise woman, Jen. That’s such good advice to new moms. But I’m in a hairdo rut - I need a cut and keep not going. My clips can’t even hold it all up. I fear I look like an aging Ellie Mae from the Beverly Hillbillies.😬

@@vivmomsews4962 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That was a true LOL! Ehh - it's just more hair to wind around into a bun on top of your head. Actually makes it easier until you absolutely can't stand it anymore . . .

Viv, the paisley assymetrical tunic is so flattering on you. I'm curious what that style would look like on a petit statured mature figure.🤔😉 Love all your makes. Keep 'em coming. God bless everyone!
@vivmomsews49623 жыл бұрын
You could try holding fabric up to mimic the silhouette and see what you think. Maybe a monochromatic outfit would add length to the overall look? Just a thought. If you didn’t care for the angled hem, you could always just make it level. I think V necks are flattering on almost everyone.😃 Thanks for writing, CCP!

All great makes Viv. Perfect for the times we are in. I like the 3 piece outfit the best. Very versatile. Is the fabric maybe a ponte? Looks like one I bought from Fabric Mart. Hard to tell for sure. Totally agree about getting up and getting ready. i learned that from my Mom. She always got up, got dressed, put a little make up on. She was a great sewer and made almost everything she wore. She looked well put together at all times, and I do the same even though i am no longer working. You just get more out of your day and sets a positive mental outlook.
@vivmomsews49623 жыл бұрын
All so true, fellow Mom. I don’t think the wrap jacket is a ponte because it has a nice sheen to it. Some kind of beefy poly with lots of stretch. Your mom was a wise woman!

Lovely makes, Viv and 8059 tunic is one I’m about to remake myself. It was the first successful top I made and my husband thought it was shop bought - I take compliments where I can get them! 🤣 I’ve just bought some fabrics from Minerva in their sale and my New Years Resolutions included getting on with my sewing and stop procrastinating! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕

Delightful! Your hair has grown so long and beautiful. I loved the makes, the fabric was awesome one each one! Made the tunic with the diagonal hem, but it didn’t look good on me. Probably me... being too self-conscious about it. I ended going back and leveling it out with serger, and now I wear it all the time. Good to see you! Blessings!💖

Long hair, yes. Beautiful? Questionable! But thank you, dear kind Nancy. And nice save on the tunic by leveling the hem. Always great to hear from you!

I had a sweater knit dress which I wore so often, and it washed and dried in a jiffy, but it's a bit out of shape. It had black leather trim on the sleeves and pockets. I'll have to make a new one. I'm getting dressed and put on make up every day, and yes it does help. Loved all your makes!

Hi Beth! My sweater dress knit is kinda blah - doesn’t have good recovery and I can see it stretching out of shape. But the dress pattern is a good one, and talk about a versatile piece! Good job getting dressed with makeup everyday. I can’t say I’m quite there yet...
