Entertaining video. Thanks! My mom often sewed all night. I would wake to see a new dress hanging in my room ready for me to wear. She made beautiful clothes for both of us and sport coats for my tall skinny brother. Everything fit like a dream and felt great because she used the best fabrics available. She always had an amazing fabric stash. My dad said all her sewing never saved him a penny but we always were well dressed!

On our fourth anniversary, my husband gave me a used Singer sewing machine. I was thrilled.. only thing was, he was so enthralled with it, and the attachments that came with , that I had to wait several weeks to use it for the first time because he made our son lined jeans and me a dress! We've been married sixty-three years now, and still have that machine. Its gear driven and has sewn through many canvas covers for our boat, and leather belt repairs. Wouldn't give it up for anything..or him!! Thank you for the laughs this morning and fond memories.

Well, that was a hoot! Getting to “visit” with your sisters and you. Y’all were having such fun reminiscing. I laughed with you. I have only one sibling, a sister, 2-1/2 years younger, whom I don’t get to see very often as we live pretty far from each other. We do text each other and she called last night and we talked for over an hour. Y’all bring back memories for me too because my Mom sewed quilts and Barbie clothes for us too. She taught me to sew my first quilt and got me hooked on sewing. It was so sweet that you sew for your sisters. I made my sister’s white satin, velvet and lace wedding gown for her wedding as well as my long halter gown and jacket I wore to the wedding. I had forgotten about that til now. Thank you.❤️

I was invited to join a Dorcus group here. They are a sewing ministry sewing children's clothing and send the clothes to children in several countries. My understanding is Dorcus was a woman in the Bible who sewed/created garments for the poor. That was fun. Sisters are great. There are four of us in my family too and 4 brothers. Eight of us total and mom made our matching shorts and tank tops on her singer sewing machine 😊✂️

what fun...speaking of our early machines, I got my first machine in 1960, which my parents paid for & I paid them back by doing alterations..I kept a journal until it was paid for...I was 15 & learned to sew by reading the pattern instructions...later I went to Fashion Institute & was a tailoring major..have been sewing ever since..my favorite past time....

I wanted to add separately from my dropped slip story that Dorcas whom your mom referred to in the New Testament was a much appreciated seamstress... That when she died suddenly.. and Peter happened to be in town.. they sent for him to pray for her and she was raised from the dead..🙏 All because they were unwilling to let her go due to her valuable sewing gifts!!!💕😄 Enjoyed your sharing! P. S. Dorcas is the Greek translation for Tabitha in Aramaic.. Meaning is gazelle! You certainly sew with the speed of a gazelle!🦌 👍😃

My mom used to make most of my sister and my clothing and was an expert seam tress. I started sewing around age 12 for 4-H on a Minnesota treadle machine that had belonged to my great-grandmother. I've never stopped sewing since. In the 1960's I had a neighbor who was trained in tailoring who taught me a lot of new techniques. Now days there is so much excellent information on sewing V-logs and I have several that I follow regularly including yours. Every once in awhile one of your vintage patterns is one I sewed when the pattern was new!

You ladies are a ton of fun! What a blessing to have all four sisters within a so-called shouting distance. Thank you so much to your sisters for joining in today, it was a real pleasure - and we look forward to some day meeting the first-born. Now Viv - that beautiful neck! I know when you reviewed this video you caught yourself exclaiming to Anne, “Whyyyy are we so hard on ourselves?!” and then dissing your neck. Yep! We heard that. I felt the tremors move through the ‘WE WANT TO BE LIKE VIV CLUB’ - I hope they’re all ok and not running out for tuck up job. SPEND the money on fabric - much less pain. My younger sister had a nose job when she was younger! Now girls change their noses with makeup. From personal experience... just prop a card up over the monitor so you can’t see yourself, right girls? ‘Nother great video! Thanks for the memories, girls! Blessings, Nancy🌺

Funny, they would talk about DORCAS almost as though it was another person in their group at times and sometimes we would get caught up in their dramas over their community plights to doing things for others even to the point of getting ourselves volunteered for activities by our family members. She had a Featherweight but I don't think she knew how to backstich, I was so proud of it and wore it to school and it started to fall apart. First the sleeves and then the gathered waist. The HomeEc teacher had to take me in her room but her coat on me and resewed the dress. But I continued on, taking after my grandmother and learned to sew. Thanks for this video. LOVED meeting your seesters...I was also one of 4 sisters...and it was always so good to be together and chat. Wish yours were in ALL your videos ! What an interesting conversation learning about all your sewing histories. Wish my past family chats would have been recorded. My oldest two sisters sewed their school clothes AND made the outfits for the High School plays. My closest sister had dabbled in sewing, plus a lot of hand work (quilting, hooking, yoyo quilt, etc) but the BABY (me) really took off with sewing starting in grade school...doll clothes...then all my prom dresses, some school clothes, later maternity clothes, kids clothes and home dec. I call myself a quilter, now, but haven't done anything except COLLECT fabric in the past 10 years. I always love watching your videos/fashion shows, fabric and pattern hauls. The subject matter is things I love, but your cheerful personality really makes my day. Sure hope to see more of your two sisters plus the missing quilter ! Thanks for all you do. Nancy in Mobile.
