I had a 2017 and it had a real world range of ~120 miles. It handled funny sometimes because of the battery placement but was a great commuter! I also found it in south carolina (new), not sure how it ended up on the east coast

Brian you make a great point for these to be 2nd cars. Be for my Tesla Model Y 7seater, I had a Fiat 500e and Chevy Spark Ev. Both were excellent daily commute cars and could be charged overnight on 110V outlet. Hidden gems really. I wish more people would consider these for their 2nd car

Cool, Brian.. I Like looking at the vehicles. I wish the rest of the country had great rebates....

I live in the Portland area, so it's fun to see you visiting Platt. I drive by them all the time. From their Icon, I assume they are the same company that has a number of electrical supply stores around town. It's cool that they decided to sell used EVs. Their lot is always full of Bolts and Leafs.

This idea of owning 2 cars is completely alien to me. Even if i owned 2 outright, the cost of car insurance in Louisiana is ridiculously high compared to the income here. But including a note or two and I can't imagine the luxury of owning more than one car.

good point. On the second, cheap commuter car, a person might have only liability insurance to save money.

I had an EV and a dinosaur, but since I was the only driver of both, insurance wasn’t much more than one car.

@@milohobo9186 For a single driver, liability insurance on a second car won’t add much if anything.

Driver of sleeper blue 2017 Focus EV w/ CCS charger & Android Auto/CarPlay. 80k odometer. 185 km range. Great runabout between adjacent cities. Hope it lasts well past the 8 year battery warranty.

I consulted with a friend on the Focus EV. He wanted my input on how things should be designed regarding the battery. My suggestion/solution was rejected by upper management.... because they didn't want to spend the money to do a better job than they settled with. Ford..... run by bean counters instead of engineers, so the Focus EV is the sort of abortion you get >> yeah, they "saved money".... but the result was so bad they didn't sell very many. Penny wise, pound foolish. I was **SO GLAD** to announce my retirement! Everyone in my part of Product Development was shocked because I was way under retirement age and the company had just finished major layoffs post-Great Recession and I was the first to leave by my own choice. Anyway.... rambling...

This would be perfect for my granddaughter that’s about to turn 16. Didn’t expect to find one, but there’s a 2015 close by with 49,000 miles on it for $7950. If it qualifies for the tax rebate, it’d be about $5600 - about all its worth really. But still, for a second car or kids first car, it might just work.

I’ve got that exact same blue focus electric, and drive it daily (100 mile round trip) for work. Rain or snow, very good car. Drives like total ass in the snow (I’m in michigan). Stereo sucks, they removed the subwoofer from the premium sound system (something to do with the amplifier). Also- most Ford dealerships (and ford themselves) don’t remember this car exists. Difficult to find parts for. Mines a 2017 with the ccs fast charging and larger battery.

I was going to get a Ford Focus EV but got a Fiat 500 e. I should have waited for the 2017 Ford Focus EV much better range.

By that logic... Every single EV being sold in Europe made by Stellantis is a compliance car. As is every Hybrid made by everyone...
@mnhsty4 ай бұрын
Generally, compliance cars were first generation cars. After that, using a dinosaur platform was just being a laggard.
