A little detail about gen 8 Charizard: He is literally the face of RU. Heavy duty boots makes him a good offensive defogger and due to scorching hands now has the tools to not being countered by common rock users; an RU team who cannot deal with Zard is a bad team period and again, the rock types in RU are just checks not counters. Funnily enough Fire/Flying was always a good defensive typing but overlooked due to rocks (aside of 3° gen Moltres).

@N120154 жыл бұрын
@@beta511ee4 Multiple reasons, all of them explaining some of the reaons why Moltres was the best fire type in Advance OU. First EVs made your typing and resistances more important when considering your bulk. Second, Moltres got Will-O-Wisp due to XD, improving his physical bulk a lot in practice. Third, there was no stealth rocks but up to three layer of spikes, so mons with levitate or flying types had more longevity. Fourth: While Charizard was good in Gen 2 OU, his set was a mix one with belly drum who cuts your bulk in half. Meanwhile Moltres has the same bulk as Zapdos. Don't get me wrong, that bird was mainly used as a special wallbreaker to defeat spike users and most steel types teams tend to have in mass because it had the strongest fire blast in the game, but that defensive utility product of his typing and movepool, alongside that wallbreaking potential, gives it a niche in gen 3.

The impact of stealth rock was immense I honestly don't understand how moves like baton pass were banned while stealth rock who's completely dominant competitively stands strong The viability of some mons js completely dependent on stealth rock They had to buff defog and basically give it to everything just so people had a chance of countering it There are whole strategies around punishing/preventing your opponent from removing rocks I wait for the day where this completely broken move is finally put to rest Permanently It would make for a much healthier competitive environment
@azuresea71833 жыл бұрын
Bias and spite is why baton pass is banned in smogon and stealth rocks is permitted and because baton pass was pretty much the only viable way to completely stuff any stealth rocks attempts. How? simple ask yourself this: would you really want to risk putting up stealth rocks when you know that just one successful baton pass boost could potentially end your whole team because of wasting a turn to put up stealth rocks which gave your opponent enough time to get off a successful a boosted baton pass? You see smogon rules works only when smogon is not bias, spiteful, or hypocritical and abuse their power to ban certain strategies. it's not the first time their rulings on certain things was complete crap. like banning garchomp why because when they banned garchomp they allowed moxie mance to dominate ou because they disturbed the balance of ou by banning the only surefire counter to moxie mance which was garchomp.🤨🤔🧐

The first turn they gmax and I switch into cinderace for not effective damage on gmax resonance then court change the veil tanking the hydro then using bounce and preventing them from using max resonance again. Anyway Chansey well maybe it should go to fairies and not to normal typing since it's egg group it's fairy, so as to have some logic knowing every special move. @@akapbhan In gen 2 spinners are extremely common with overused having 4 of them (cloyster, golem, fortress, starmie), with the metagame revolving around spikes, it is important to have a plan to deal with them. about 90% of gen 2 teams feature rapid spin and a significant amount of them carry a ghost type (gengar, misdrevous) to block spin (usually offense teams). In gen 3 rapid spin is a lot less common now that the spike setters can be taken care of with magniton's magnet pull; so teams deal with hazards with ether magniton, rapid spin or heavy offensive pressure).

I really never got into playing Pokemon, but it's competitive history was always interesting to me. From my perspective, Stealth Rock is OCG Maxx C (A yugioh card) for Pokemon. It's meta defining, provides more advantage than most if not all other in-game options for some reason the entire game is built around its existence instead of banning it outright. I didn't even know Stealth Rocks were type based for the damage either, that blew my mind. Imagine if you used one of the options that let you poison steel-types, and the poison just did no damage, except it's the opposite for Stealth Rocks dealing more damage. It's such an out of place move when compared to the other hazards. I think people need to go on Stealth Rock strike.

Stealth Rock annoys me on so many levels. It's significantly more devastating than other entry hazards for significantly less investment, and it's damage being affected by type puts it wildly out of step with them. It has broad distribution. Gamefreak apparently relies on its existence as an excuse to design overpowered Pokémon. It's the only entry hazard in the Let's Go games, and there are no moves there to clear them. And finally, from a thematic perspective, invisible floating rock shards are just plain silly. Stealth Rock is a grand slam of awful design that's tolerated more than it's liked.
