Sailor on T-2: "THE WHOLE SHIP IS ON FIRE!" T2 Commanding Officer: "This is fine, stay calm son. We're about to submerge shortly, that will douse the fires." Sailor: "Oh? Sir?! I thought we were a Torpedoboat!" Commander: "That we are, son, that we are." *After actually submerging and dousing the fires, T-2 then miraculously surfaced again and, by whatever hole in the natural laws they dove through, has the flooding under control. The remaining crew now shares their Commanders "THIS IS FINE" facial expression, meanwhile opening fire again at an enemy torpedoboat* The ship and whole crew ought to recieve a medal, T-2 was as literally as it gets "calm under fire". ... maybe assign an SCP number though, just as a precaution...

I feel like this game needs a phase to set formations. Like a total war pre-battle formation setting mechanic. Then you don't have the spaghetti formation for the first 15 minutes as you set up something realistic/functional.

Some notes on the early French hulls. The French used a "tumble home" design where the sides of the ship slopped inward. This was not for the purpose of creating sloping armor, but rather to lighten the superstructure's center of gravity in order to allow very tall superstructures. This was perhaps to aid in spotting, but the primary purpose (and this is so French) was to achieve an imposing profile to intimidate the enemy. The drawback with this design is that once the ships took on water from damage any listing effects were magnified and had these ships ever seen action, they would have been very prone to capsizing. Another drawback was the French had trouble calculating displacement and often their ships ended up several feet lower in the water than designed --hence those low casements you commented upon. More serious was that the above water armor belt ended up being only a few feet above the waterline so the armor value UAD gives these ships is overly generous. Not sure about 1890s French turrets, but those of the 1880s that look similar to some in the game were only 2" thick and intended to be nothing more that barbets with splinter-shield cupolas . There is a KZbin vid "When hotels went to Sea that covers these early French ships.

Ahoy @Stealth17 Gaming! I have an idea for you! When you would have a transport ship, instead use destroyers or light cruisers at half speed with torpedos and main guns turned off. This way you can control them and they have an accurate amount of survivability and firepower

Talking about 1890s ships I think the German pre-dreadnought battleship should offer the most design variety. It's the hull of the Brandeburg class, which means in the real.life configuration it could carry up to three eleven inch turrets, with one amid-ship, instead of the usual two. In the context of the game, the middle space could instead be used for more funnels, heavier secondaries, or a mixed caliber main battery.

Hello. I have detected a repeating error regarding the definition of a dreadnaught. Simply put, before 1906, there was no such thing. These ships are pre-dreadnaught. I have spent the last thirty years telling people that Frankenstein is not the monster. Please don't make me spent the next thirty telling people that a pre-Dreadnaught is not a dreadnaught. Furthermore, pre-Dreadnaughts had 8" and 9" 'secondaries' (they weren't actually secondaries). Dreadnaught was created to replace the mixed bag of large, independent guns with a uniform main battery using a single fire control system.
