Steam to Victory 2023 at the Age of Steam Roundhouse

In September 2023, the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek, Ohio held their annual Steam to Victory event. The event featured train rides behind Morehead & North Fork 12 as well as a Second World War reenactment camp and battle by Venture Crew 1944. Tours were also offered of the Roundhouse's fantastic collection of preserved steam locomotives, however the guide stressed that we were not allowed to post anything from the tour on youtube. It was a very fun morning in Eastern Ohio and I definitely recommend a visit to the Roundhouse to anyone with an interest in steam power.

I love what they did with the s160. I am partial to s160s tho… Their world war 2 reenactment is quite impressive.

Magnificent video. I really like seeing the USA S160 with the appropriate WW2 train on display & I love seeing the Morehead & North Fork Switcher No.12 in action. No.12's smokebox looks almost like the S160's, although it was built in 1905 & the S160s were built in the 1940s. Also, No.12, weighing at 73 tons, imagine if those engines went to Great Britain or France during WW1 to help with the military trains. Once again, magnificent video, keep up the good work.

Too bad the radioman couldn't get those fighter planes to make a strafing run on the enemy position, lol. Loved hearing Fibber McGee & Molly's "Good Night all" in the background at the start of the video. Was the S160 operational as well or just a static display? Nice looking either way.

The S160 is just a static display, the 12 is the only loco at the roundhouse currently certified for operation.

No offence, mate. I will watch something like this sometimes, it's just that I don't like to see those war planes. They freak me out. WW2 should be long forgotten by now.

Not likely over here. We still re-enact U.S. civil war and revolutionary war periods as well. I've portrayed both Union and Confederate soldiers and I've even participated in a federal period reenactment in Ft. Recovery, Ohio as a Levy. Even went to Pickering Village, Ontario, Canada once to re-enact the battle of Payne's farm, Virginia, lol.

World War Two should never be forgotten so that we can look back at all that went down within that war and say, "Never again." How can we ever hope to learn from the past and do better if we decide to forget the parts that make us uncomfortable?

@@justahillbilly7777 We can learn from our past mistakes, that's the way we do better. We've got to learn to forget WW2, we should never be made to feel uncomfortable by being forced to remember the dark days that no longer exist. The sooner WW2 is completely forgotten, the happier we will all be.
