I'm on a bit of a health kick right now after having eaten so indulgently in Bangkok! So I came up with this recipe which is light, healthy, and absolutely delicious! Soft, silky tofu is steamed with a delicious ginger soy sauce, topped with colourful julienned vegetables...it'll convert any "tofu haters" I promise! I think this might be my favourite tofu recipe yet and I can eat as much of it as I want without feeling guilty. Although this is something one would normally eat with rice, because I'm limiting my carbs I can eat it straight up on its own, and it's still super yum because the soft, mild tofu acts like a base for the sauce and veggies. Oh and as a bonus, it's vegan, so anyone can enjoy it!

About Pai:
Pailin “Pai” Chongchitnant is the author of the Hot Thai Kitchen cookbook, co-host of a Canadian TV series One World Kitchen on Gusto TV, and creator and host of the KZbin channel Pailin's Kitchen.
Pai was born and raised in southern Thailand where she spent much of her "playtime" in the kitchen. She traveled to Canada to study Nutritional Sciences at the University of British Columbia, and was later trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in San Francisco.
After working in both Western and Thai professional kitchens, she decided that her passion really lies in educating and empowering others to cook at home via KZbin videos, her cookbook, and cooking classes. tip for getting the tofu out of the casing, flip the box over on a plate then cut a hole at the corner of the casing. The silken tofu should slide right out with minimal effort.

Great recipe! The stir-fried mushrooms, carrots and peppers were amazing on their own. I used king oyster mushrooms instead of shitake.

I just tried your recipe and it's the most delicious tofu I have ever made. The mushroom and bean sauce added a meaty texture to the tofu .... mixed with the aroma of the good quality Thai rice. Heavenly.

Good one pallin. i have some soft tofu in the fridge and was going to have it Japanese style but I will try your recipe. Looks great. Btw you look very slim and trim even though you said you ate too much on your trip. Cheers.

Kreung in Cambodian is like our spice and herb mix :) our kreung consists of lemongrass, lime kaffir, galangal, chilli, and sometime garlic.

hi pai, you can cut the 4 corners of the plastic tub lightly and when you turn the tub upside down, the tofu will slide out perfectly....😉

I presume u need something halal. Here you go. You can substitute it with half apple or grape juice + rice vinegar.

Thank you for your recipe, I also made it some sort like that but placed a slice of Cheese on top , Steam or bake to make the cheese melt. Then cook shredded veggie and sauce and pour it around the Cheese tofu ! To remove the tofu from the box, invert it and poke a hole at the bottom and it will come out nicely !

Ive tried substituting firm tofu for soft (the texture is never what was intended) but it usually tastes pretty good if you marinate the cubes in the sauce for awhile

really like your vids. if you make a little notch in any bottom corner of the tofu package, it will help release the vacuum and the tofu will slide out good every single time :)

If you want to kill 2 birds with one rock, skip the step of peeling the plastic off the tofu package and let the knife do the work when you run it along the sides of the tofu to loosen... Love you videos... Garlic Cabbage has become “go to”

No fish sauce , but if you used wine that is not vegetarian , pure vegetarian don't have garlic or onion but I am not pure vegetarian cos I eat onion and garlic but no eggs no wine that it
