Oh My Lard! there was a lot of issues during the creation of this video... the computer had cluster errors and then adobe wouldnt let us export .avi file so we had to use image sequence what a drag! But that is all in the past now and here we present to you another track for the "Absurd Stories for the Rationally Insane".
The track is 7 mins lon i tried to shorten it but it seems it cannot be done the track calls for 7 mins. because of its narrative nature.
this will be the last track from the Absurd stories to be uploaded
because i am now working on the E.P. featuring Oliver
logical pink gizmo, twaddles and this track will be in the EP.
the EP will have 7 tracks which will be available in bandcamp which ive yet to make one and i intend to surprise and release them all at the same times and ill be finishing some covers as well and other originals that arent related to "absurd stories for the rationally insane"

Theory time: the salesman was on hallucinogens (suggested by the mushrooms in the first long instrumental) and was convinced the umbrellas could fly. Oliver was the first to buy one of these umbrellas and believed the salesman about the magic. He jumped off a building with it believing he would fly, therefore dying. That's why he was sitting on the cloud. The people all witnessed it which is why they didn't buy any umbrellas. For the lyrics "but the salesman did in fact touch the ground and felt the sky" he hit the ground and went to heaven. Ok I'm done thnx for reading this rant lol

I see the umbrellas as a symbolism for insanity and he tries to get people to see from his point of veiw but no one wants to live that life. In the second verse the umbrella now symbolizes his brain with holes in it based on his lack of sanity and being left out in the cold because no one knows how he feels. When the salesman finds a plan to get the people to "buy his umbrellas" he thinks that be killing himself he will cause others to feel the pain he did ending with them giving him money for his umbrellas of insanity

Alright, so... I heard this for the first time last night. But I couldn't think of a comment to post then; I was literally still, silent, and lost for words. Now that I'm right again, I just have to say... this is beyond gorgeous. The vocals, melody, story, and art make this a masterpiece. The change at around 4 minutes itself nearly wrenched at my heart, since it went from something bright, hopeful, and dreamy, and quickly spiraled into something ominous and depressing. Then it builds back up and becomes a sort of mix of both; dark yet, you can somehow still feel the dreamy determination and faith the salesman had behind his pitch. I'd like to think that he both fell, and flew. After he jumps, he knows what the ethereal fields are like. The umbrella leads him to seeing the greatest sights, and experiencing the greatest magic when he reaches heaven. However, he doesn't really die, as his memory lives with everyone that took an umbrella, and to them, the salesman's undying belief in the umbrellas is the true magic they carry. Agh, as I thought, it's really impossible to put my love for this video into words, and I don't even think I properly expressed my entire thoughts on it, but I tried. I'm still a mess from this, it's probably the first song that's made me tear up since I was a teenager. First you give me eerie feels with Wysteria and Flue Faker, then this one just goes straight into the heart. You guys are absolutely amazing. Bravo.

To me it feels like this song is about the disenchantment of the world: when the Umbrella Salesman is younger he believes in the beauty of the world (the magic umbrellas) and the kindness of people, but as he gets older he realizes "there's no such thing as magic": the people won't buy his umbrellas, they're too busy with their own lives to care about him. To me the umbrella salesman represents all the people who are not heard in this world and who suffer in silence. Unable to cope with the disenchantment of the world the Umbrella Salesman commits suicide, and it's only after this happened that the people are willing to look at him. That is, until they are over the shock and move on with their lives.

I think the story is, a young boy would advertise that he was selling magic umbrellas. No one believed him, and they told him magic doesn't exist. To prove they were magic, he set to jump off a building. It didn't work, he died. But they left umbrellas with money as a memorial to him. Just how I interpreted it... Could be wrong.

This is one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard in my life. It gave me chills multiple times, and of course I’ve cried. The art is stunning, the music is unique, and the story is one of the best stories behind a song I’ve ever heard. I don’t understand how talent like this is overlooked and people like Cardi B get famous for twerking and singing about money. This is amazing. Thank you for this masterpiece.

The song tells the story of a umbrella salesman who attempts to sell magic umbrellas. However, he faces constant shunning for his outrageous claims about the umbrellas "magic". In the end, in an attempt to prove they are magical, he climbs a 40 foot building and shouts out to the people below him his sales pitch. Upon which he leaps into the sky while holding an umbrella. Afterwards, his umbrellas are left scattered on the ground, to which the people of the city finally buy them.

I think it's about religion, he believes in god and want to share his belief with others by knocking on doors and offering people a bible. When nobody believed him he wanted to show that it's true, that you can go to heaven, by killing himself.

While re-listening to this without watching the PV and I found that you made Oliver clear enough to understand while still maintaining his very smooth voice which very few songs do. I also commend you for not shortening the song simply because it is too long - It's horrible to see things cut down simply to make them a standard length so thanks for the song ^^

I thought maybe only the english translations of the japanese were wordy but I guess all vocaloid songs are just very wordy/ cramped. It doesn't mean I don't like them but it's like they strive to tell a whole narrative instead of like a poetic song...I thought maybe the translations were just weird but i guess that is just the style.
