I'm sharing your frustrations about parts quality. I'm keeping a couple of old series and a defender around and I notice I keep changing the same parts over and over again while to old stuff with proper maintenance just seems to last forever!

Good to hear you are keeping it. You would regret selling ng, and all the quality work you have done on it. My son is restoring his ex Norwegian 1974 109, to steam wally standards, your videos have been useful, appreciate your videos and efforts.

Thank you, I am always pleased to hear that the videos are useful to someone. To be honest, a week of daily driving again has reinforced what a great vehicle a Series Land Rover can be.

I sold mine, so I'll live vicariously through yours! I just wasn't using it enough, 700 and then 500 miles between MoT's, so it was time to let someone else enjoy it. I still look at others, so never say never! Cheers

Given your workshop skills, would it be possible to engineer an adapter plate and install a pump from another vehicle, maybe even another Land Rover? Or, if you're planning on changing the engine soon anyway just live with it, annoying as it is!

I believe I heard you say you'd like to "get the new engine done"...is that the 2.5 petrol? Would love to see a video series of you completing the rebuild of that engine. I'm pushing through with a conversion of my 5mb 2.25 diesel into a 2.5 petrol--Richard Hall wrote a great article about doing that. Anyhow, many thanks for the update video! ~Pete

Yes, the very same! Actually, since the last video on that engine I have discovered that the cylinder head is one of ACR's trick conversions, with big inlet valves and about one hundred thou' skimmed off to bump the compression right up.

Greetings from the States! Fine looking 109, I personally think a 109 2 door is the best most useful land rover made, be it a series 2a or 3. I owned a series 3 military 109 ffr for 10 years, currently own an 87 ex mod 90, but that 109 was one of the most reliable Land Rovers I've owned over the last 40 years, I sold it to a friend in 2009 and have regretted it ever since. Keep it and try to find NOS parts to keep it driving. I've owned them since I was 13 and now I'm 54 and I can't be without one.

Nice to see you post from the USA! I own a SIII 109 and watch all your helpful videos. Question, how did you get your original temp gauge and the temp on your dual gauge to both work?

Glad you're keeping it. I find your videos very informative and use them a lot for information on keeping my 1982 ex military 88 going. I have a couple of genuine, pre Britpart , used water pumps from engines I have broken. I will check them out and see if one may be ok for you to have if you are interested. Just watched your gearbox videos. Gearbox rattles and is getting loud So may be a rebuild. Got a question that you may be able to answer. Will a 2a suffix b box fit a series 3 bellhousing? Lots of different info on web so am confused! Rgds dave

I bought mine last year, looking at the service history it’s had a total of 2 starter motors in the past 3 years, and then earlier this week the 3rd one failed!! Unfortunately the 2.5 n/a diesel isn’t the easiest to bump start so had to get it recovered 🤦♂️

So annoying same here, latest is braided hoses that come with copper washers 2 sizes too big and nuts that only have thread half way through 🤦♂️

After market parts quality varies greatly. Rebuild kits may now be the better or only option. Hope you Keep the 109

Dear Mrs Steamwally, I really enjoy your channel for quite some time now . I own a 1975 series 3 88. I have a problem which I want to share with you. The transferbox continues to jump out of high gear. I am sure that the levers are clean and in the right position. It seems like the gear is really pulling the shaft. Could the pre pressure, the alignment with the rope and the scale be the problem? Or any other ideas? Thanks anyway. Hans from the Netherlands.

The "Landy" is just like the proverbial "Irish axe" that has had 3 handles and 2 heads fitted and is still as good as new. 👍👍😁😁👌👌 Cheers Eric

Blank off the mechanical pump and fit an electric water pump?.
