Steeda's S550 Mustang GT MT-82 Tri-Ax Race Short Throw Shifter is a full factory shifter assembly replacement for your 2015-2017 Mustang GT. Our race short throw shifter eliminates all slop and deflection of the factory shifter, and still retains the factory shift knob, pull-up style reverse lockout and backup camera functionality.
With the replacement of your factory shifter assembly with our short throw shifter, you will notice a 30% reduction in throw between gears. This pairs well with the braided steel clutch line. No more lockout at high RPMs. 2019 GT PP2 Roush Phase 1 Supercharged. Loving it so far. Definite increase in NVH (particularly at high RPMs) but only when you are on it. Either way, a decent trade-off for shorter throws + eliminating the wishy-washy feeling of the factory shift mechanism.

Stock __5.0 the rst clutch was actually terrible. I went with an exedy et05srfd and was much better. 700rwhp and it feels like a stock clutch compared to the chatter and vibration the rst gave

@@gigi9467 There is no more than you would expect form something attached to the transmission. Less than the MGW, more than a drop in lever arm. The shifter is not an area to look for weight savings.

Hey I had a shop install my shifter and 1st n 2nd are really hard to get in gear all the other ones go in really nice any idea even with the short springs on

Looks like a significant upgrade over the oem shifter. Is there a way to have it trans mounted vs body mounted?

Hi Ron, keep in mind the front mount on the billet arm is hard mounted to the transmission with no bushing. We retain the rear body mount to help isolate noise as well as to prevent the shifter position from changing too much under hard acceleration, particularly with power adders.

I installed the Steeda Tri-Ax Street short throw shifter a couple of years ago and noticed that it has trouble shifting into reverse, especially when it gets hot after a track session. It seriously has to get muscled into place. Is that normal? Does the Steeda Tri-Ax Race shifter have this same problem?

Hi Steven, can you be more specific, is the reverse lockout collar hard to pull up or is the shifter physically requiring force to pull it over to the left? Is this something that just started to happen? Either way, it is not normal.

@@steedaautosports The reverse lockup pulls and the shift lever goes to the left normally, but when I try to push it forward, it hits a brick wall. I have to muscle it into place. This happens most when the car is hot (like coming off of a session at the track). The funny thing is it shifts into reverse just fine when the car is not running at all and is cold. It seems that heat is the biggest factor.

@@srhatfield It sounds like a hydraulic (clutch slave, master or fluid) issue or a clutch pressure plate issue. When it goes into reverse, does the car clunk or start to roll?

Hi Rev, the auto-blip is actually actuated by the brake and clutch pedals so there is no issue with compatibility.

@@steedaautosports The rev-match actually has nothing to do with the brake...it is activated as you are pushing the gear-lever into a gear. I can be in N coasting at 35 mph...and as soon as I apply pressure to push up into 3rd gear, the car will blip up the throttle to match RPMs where they need to be...it happens exactly as you push on the shifter.

Ok, so i have this shifter, found 2 fundamental long term flaws. The white plastic pivot cup, and the black shifter bush, both wear, and in some cases, have play straight away on install. Both these items need to be replaced with brass option. The white pivot cup on some cars, has up to 2 mm of play, and it's terrible for high speed shift as the shifter has free movement before sending this energy to the shifter bush. Then the shifter bush itself, in some cases has a mm of further play. This has caused high rpm lockout, poor shifting and has also caused customers to pull it out. For the price, the Barton and MGW have neither of these issues. Steeda need to rectify this. I'll be pulling mine out, and replacing it with another brand.
