Place the hook of the chain racket binder on the rub rail . Pull tension on it and spin it as if you were playing jump rope to unwind it ! You are incorrectly placing your binders against the load , only straight inline pulls on the chain itself ! The binders should not touch the load !

You are putting undo force on the ratchet binders . Pull of binder should be straight in line not interfering with the beams .

I don’t understand why you guys bind all chains to one side. Same with any securement method. They should be staggered. Think about it. IF in an incident, how will the load shift? If your “trainer” didn’t teach you that, he should not be training. Steel on steel=slick on slick!Add straps with some fabric edge protection (strips of old ragged straps or rubber you often get from shippers) It will create more friction so when you slam your brakes in an unexpected incident that shit has a lesser chance of coming through your cab and killing you. Add a mini bulkhead if enough room or a X chain on front that will hold SOME of them sonsabitches. Just saying.

Did your trainer teach you about the smith system. If you have to slam on brakes obviously you weren’t keeping your eyes moving or your following too close. And who taught you that alternating pull bs? That definitely isn’t scientifically proven. It is taught in P&S orientation that all chains or straps pulling to one side is perfectly fine 👋🏾

In the military for the most part we put all binders or ratchets on the same side so you can monitor them out your driver mirror. But I did watch a video about doing an x on front and rear and it made sense to me too 👍. Great video

ummmm.... Those chains are going to get lose within 5 miles of the yard. You twisted the chain around the binder which is 1 million percent ILLEGAL.

Nobody taught you how to actually tie down a load of steel, you don't have the first belly wrap and on that load, I'd have 2, one on the rear and one on the front..but then again, I've been out 30 years running flatbed, step, RGN and double drop.

See what the video doesn’t show is my tarps on the front sitting over the edge of the trailer and me moving them throwing them on that bottom layer and strapping them down. And also threw a strap on the back layer with edge protectors. But the name of the video is steel on steel. Don’t want to get some drivers in the habit of using straps instead of chains. 😉 thank you sir
