Anyone looking to perform this type of repair themselves should drill out the hole and install a brass bushing. Steel on steel won't last long. The spring barrel pivot will wear away to nothing complicating future repairs.

Great repair.

Very useful. Thanks.

Couldn't you just have filled the hole with a hard solder, like nickel solder, and drilled a new hole in that?

Have a lincoln 1960 clock and must fix same bearing as you but a question. How long runs a clock before rewinding...my clock only works about 5-sec. something is wrong?
@steelcantuna5 жыл бұрын
I think about 1.5 to 2 minutes between "pops." Maybe the "points" aren't getting enough "juice" to make a good "pop." Or, maybe you need a touch of wd40 or a light weight oil on the that part of the little spring "arm" that moves away when the points touch. Good luck.

I have a El camino 10984 clock, it runs 10 minutes a day to fast, what can I do about that?

I thought I already showed the "adjustment lever" in one of my clock videos. Its been years since I made or watched them. There is an advance & retard "lever." You just have to experiment with it, moving it up & down in tiny, tiny increments.

Do you have a video about how to oil the clock? I have a 67 impala and my clock isnt working.

Professional clock repair guys would hate me for saying this, but... A generousness amount of WD-40 works very well for me. Be careful around the tinny spring(s) not to damage anything.

Michael Powell -thanks for the info! I would much rather keep the clock original instead of converting it to quarts.

Ditto about the Professionals having a hissy fit over WD-40. Better would be viewing youtube videos on clock lubrication, which may not be your problem. WD-40 or any lubrication on the hairspring is a HUGE NO clock may still tick (maybe not) but you will have invented a whole new kind of time.

@@steelcantuna you're right. We do hate you for saying wd40. Clock oil is available on ebay. Literally anything is better than wd40. You've botched this car clock in a horrible way.

Please DON'T do this! Clint would say this is a total "cluster****"

Please do not do this!!!!! Send it to a professional like myself or someone else who can fix it PROPERLY. I myself specialize in unique clock repair such as these.

what is the proper way to fix this?
@grivolas21442 жыл бұрын
@@notny411 The proper way is to reem out the bearing and press in a new one of the correct size. Very easy to do. Just look up clock repair on youtube.
