100% they were upset, specifically because the sample was used without clearance. Since then, Steely Dan was awarded 100% of the publishing for Uptown. Tariq and Gunns get nothing monetarily from their biggest hit. Ladies and Gents clear your samples, don't be a prick.

@@damofoman69 You’re reporting one side of the story without knowing the details. They (Tariq & Peter) did actually clear the sample. There is proof of this. Steely Dan just took all of the money from writing credits, as was their right. Them being hip hop musicians doesn’t automatically make them pricks btw
