Steer Smarts fixes sloppy steering! Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon brace installation

Installing the YETI XD™ JL/JT SECTOR SHAFT BRACE WITH FRAME SIDE TRACK BAR REINFORCEMENT BRACKET seemed to be a big job at first, but once you get started, it's really not that bad. Just be sure to take your time, keep everything loose until it's all properly fitted before tightening anything down, except the new sector shaft nut. Tighten that down right away.
With filming, it took us about 1 hour to install.
Don't forget that you'll need a 42mm socket to remove the factory sector shaft nut and to install the new one.

The YETI XD™ JL/JT Sector Shaft Brace With Frame Side Track Bar Reinforcement Bracket was engineered to bolt onto the stock track bar mount on the frame. The purpose of this piece is two-fold. First, the sector shaft support is meant to help minimize the aluminum and steel steering gears from flexing/deflecting/moving when cycling your steering system side to side.
The second part of the product is to reinforce the frame side track bar mounting location to help minimize any deflection of this bracket and ensuring that the mount doesn't break under extreme stress.
If you've had the TSB (technical service bulletin) work performed on your pre-2021 Wrangler or Gladiator, you will want to use the 4x short gear bolts. The fastener bag provides bolts for both aluminum and steel gear variations. The Aluminum box requires 2x short gear and 2x long gear bolts where the Steel box requires 4x short gear bolts.
*Note - Mojave JT and Diesel JT Gladiators require slight modification that is outlined in the installation instructions found here
***Fitment Issues may be present with certain aftermarket track bars -- fitment based on angle/how the hoop is bent as they can cause interference. We have seen fitment issues with the following track bars: ROUGH COUNTRY, CORE4X4...

I installed on on my 07. It is super tight now. Zero slop.

I had the small bolt near the bearing come loose at 4k miles after a lot of offroading. I heard a clicking while turning. Also the ball joint at the pitman arm wore out at 11k miles so it's time to upgrade the steering already

I tried one on my Mojave Gladiator and it was a nightmare to install. I chucked it and went with the Metalcloak, which was easier to install and I think better designed with a maintenance free oiled bronze bearing.

Yeah, I can see how it would be tricky to install. Keeping everything loose was the trick for me. Had the small bolt that holds the bearing brace come loose at 4k miles which shows the box still has movement even with such a big brace on there

For a 2023 why not let the dealer deal with the wobbling problem???

It didn't wobble when it was all stock but they won't touch it with a lift and bigger tires

Did you have to do an alignment after the steer smarts install?

No, it didn't change the position of where the track bar sits so the alignment stayed the same
