The feature you speak of (rearranging pad order) is what original MPC users need. I know you think it is useless but I thank you for mentioning it. I can now use original MPC sound mappings with Groove Agent. The Akai midi mappings are random and weird so this feature allows me to customize them in Groove Agent to the MPC 2000 XL.

Excellent again. Is there a way of sunsetting the browser data to only show multilayered pads or instruments? I assume most AA kits are layered and most BA aren't. I wonder if for real drums sounds if size of sample gives a richer sound? Lots of questions! Thank you so much.

I can confirm there's a bug (or 3) revolving around pads keeping old names when all samples in it are replaced, or keeping it's last name even when all content has been cleared. confused the hell out of me for awhile, and still gets me here and then. frustrating.

Hi. You could possibly save my life before I through a perfectly good Maschine Mikro 3 out of my studio window! I have recently converted across to Cubase and I love it. I have a Maschine Mikro and have recently created 100s of kits from my samples using KitMaker. Now, before I started dragging them in to create new kits and save each kit (this took 2x full days), I didn't notice it put them automatically on Instrument Group 3. I have now realised it does this. The issue I have (which I am not expecting you to resolve of course!) is that my Maschine Mikro triggers Group 1 ie: Whenever I hit a pad, I see it light up. Also if I drag a sound from Group 3 and drop it into a pad in Group 1 my Maschine Micro plays it as expected. NOW .. is there a way of dragging or copying a Group of pads all at once from Group 3 over to Group 1 keeping all of the same pad key assignments? It is probably a simple NO, but I had to ask. Thanks for any help. I am sure there must be a way to use Controller Editor to get some key that swaps my Mikro to talk to Group 3 each time but that's hours of investigation I will do :) thanks.

Option 1: Right Click the Pattern Group in GA, click 'Select All Pads in Group', then 'Copy Pads'. Now hop over to Group 1, select the bottom left pad, and click 'Paste Pad'. That will copy all 16 pads simultaneously. Option 2: add a Transformer MIDI Insert to the track, find to a preset called 'Transpose 1 Octave Down', and it shouldn't take much from there to figure out what you need to do. (Basically the Transformer does dynamically what a normal physical transpose option would do, but it does it on the fly.) Hope one of those options helps :)

I have Cubase 11 "Pro" and Groove Agent SE5 and you can do the swap thing WITHOUT pressing shift. Also, some of the stock drums kits that come with SE5 in Cubase 11 "Pro" use funky pad mappings where you have to remap them to get them to match the actual pad layout on a typical MIDI device.

Is there a way to add a vst instrument to a pad? For example, I would like to use a plugin for a kick drum each time that pad is triggered. Maybe this could this be done routing MIDI output to a separate track with the plugin?

I think you're on the right lines. There's nothing in GA itself that does that, but since you have full control of your MIDI that would be the way to go. You could even dedicate an agent just to that task, so that it was on its own MIDI channel (but you probably know by now that I dislike using multiple agents!)

cool idea on your assignments to let you more effectively preview various (non-steigberg) midi! i'm confused though, GA5 doesn't have ability to remap to fit people's brand of e-kit? (i believe every other software that emulates real kits, be it kontakt or superior drummer, has a simple menu with common manufacturs as presets, plus ability to make your own. Insane that steinberg wouldn't recognize this as essential!)

What (if any) error are you getting? Give me a specific preset example and I'll try it myself.

@@OneManAndHisSongs well, I'm not getting an error. For example, if I'm in groove agent and select candyfloss, there's 3 sections of presets. The first set of sounds are bass. It won't let me play them on the keyboard or my midi. But the other two sections of sounds will.

Ah, that will be because your Pattern Pads are hiding the instrument pads. Go back to episode 2 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqXOm3usia16fdk) and make sure your Pattern Pads and Instrument Pads are configured to receive different MIDI instructions. It's nothing to do with the fact that they're bass sounds - they just happen to be on Keys G#-1 to B0, which the Pattern Pads also occupy

Not that I'm aware of. You can create exclusive groups to tie drum sounds together, but that's as close as you get to having different sounds interact with eachother
