What Paradox needs to add are movable habitats so we can finally make a nomadic empire. Or habitable capital ships. They should also remove transports and allow destroyers and up to carry troops for planetary invasions and boarding enemy ships to capture them intact. I want to play as a hoard of pirates.
@mbos145 жыл бұрын
Nomadic will proberbly never come because of how empire borders work. so even if they make one you would still be locked inside an empire border. Also i rather just have them flesh out planetary invasions more. Tanks(or walkers), Air support, planetary bombardment giving a bonus to attackers, more types of planetary defence like huge ass cannons that will shoot up at the ships.
@frost90415 жыл бұрын
mbos14 I remember that back in the day (pre 2.0) you can land troops and still continue bombarding the crap out of the defenders from orbit. There were various attachments you can add to the ground units as well. Shame that they removed that.

Agreed. I hate having to build transport ships, it takes forever and it's always an afterthought. If Stellaris didn't use the memory devouring pop system then it would make sense for ships to have a crew cost taken from a planet. In fact even with the pop system it would be good, because it would effectively cull pops. And nomadic empires would indeed be yummy but the current border system would need to be reworked, since they would need to move through owned space in the mid to end game.

@@renaldoawes2210 Juggernaut is useless with its current mechanics, Mega-shipyard is unnecessary as you can crank out fleets without it just fine. Federation designs revealed so far are either meh or border-line OP (trade union bonus). They haven't shown any mechanics how to play against a federation in any other way than brute force. That expansion lives and dies by how well they adjust the AI and overall changes to general diplomacy and so far the Devs were pretty bad with those.
@renaldoawes22105 жыл бұрын
@@dmytroshulga4578 I agree in a lot of extents. But my counter would be... How is that different from our current game? Or was your point simply that federations won't be essential because nothing really changes? If so... I see your point. But let me sell my stance here for a second. I feel they are adding a lot of cool features to the game. Origins is a nice mechanic, allowing for more flavor in our custom empires. I do think federations could be on the side of being "too strong" in some cases, but... almost every game comes down to brute strength. Which I prefer. Having "economic victories" or "science victories" like they do in games like Civ is just very.... bland. That's not really how the world works. Nobody "won" by inventing computers or some amazing tech. Survival is really what stellaris is about and I quite like how federations offer safety for non aggressive empires. I think these new systems will yield some amazing ideas in the future, and some incredible mods to go along with it. I'm very excited to try it out. The fact that I can get a bill signed to have the galaxy help against the end game crisis "seems" amazing.... But inevitably you're right. This dlc lives and dies by the ai intelligence. If they're retarded... Oof... That'd be horrific. So your point is well made. I just happen to be more optimistic about it, I guess.
@gossamera46655 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen, very little will actually change. You'll get a shiny new UI window to fiddle with, but behind all that is just a bunch of modifiers, and federations are already in the game. They tout this as the diplomatic expansion, but there seems be very few added diplomatic options. Like establishing a neutral zone, backroom deals, dealing with anyone other than the single avatar representing the empire, as if an entire empire would have the same opinion regarding another. Factions actually mattering. It's not looking good at all.

Well... I was kinda pissed, when Megacorp came out, because Paradox reworked (yes, I know it was a base game update, but because of its release date and Megacorp's content I consider it a part of this expansion) and made the economy and planet management harder (e.g. having some smaller fleets to patrol your territory, in order to avoid space pirates), but then I realized it's now more interesting and the new victory requirements actually let players win the game in some other way, than just make big-ass fleets and conquer the hell out of your galaxy (or do everything above, but as a federation). So yeah, while it's not the best, Megacorp is still kinda nice.
@XxTaiMTxX4 жыл бұрын
My priorities when wanting and buying Stellaris Expansions: 1. Exploration. I love new events, new event chains, new stories, new anomalies, and just anything that adds more flavor and depth to the galaxy. 2. New ways to play the game. New options. New strategies. New handicaps or boons. 3. Building stuff. I love building up an empire. I love harvesting resources, maximizing gains, and getting all the techs. 4. Combat stuff, I guess. Combat is okay, but sort of... bland? I like new ships being added that do new things to the galaxy (love the Colossus, but don't care for Titans that much), but don't care about the combat side of things like... at all. 5. Aesthetic stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love that this stuff exists... But, it doesn't really add much to the game. What I'd love to see is like... "ship packs" for the game. I don't care that I can play as 30 different species of "Humanoid". I care that I've got like 1 or 2 options for "humanoid" type ships. Can we get some love for ship designs? I'd pay some money for like 6 new ship designs for each class of species. Hell, I'd pay some money for new "robot" designs for each species, as they all only have one and that's kind of disappointing.

@B3RyL4 жыл бұрын
I think Megacorp is the most underrated of expansions. Yes, feature-wise it's not that interesting for regular empires, but it does allow you play as a megacorp, which fundamentally changes how you play the game. I've had runs as a megacorp where I'd base my entire economy around the market and trade. I'd produce maybe 5% of alloys and consumer goods myself, and buy the rest on the market, and still earn +1k credits every month. As a megacorp bringing the market fee down to 10% or even 5% is piss easy so it's a viable way to support your empire. You can literally play as a hedge fund. That also means the pirates are no longer just a mild annoyance, they can really do some damage if they set up shop along one of your trade routes so patrolling your systems with corvettes becomes a must. And if you do opt to have a stable, home-grown economy and sell more goods than you buy, you can very easily manipulate the market prices to your advantage. It's one of the expansions I've had the most fun playing because of how paradigm-shifting it is. Suddenly the size of your fleet or your technological advancement is not the thing that determines your survival, but instead how much you can use the market manipulation and the economies of scale to your advantage.
@MnemonicHack4 жыл бұрын
@@B3RyL Exactly. I tend to surround myself with like-minded empires and bolster their defenses through my own economy. I can't expand too big since the empire sprawl cap is so low, but that's ok because if I find I've got a lot of room to expand, I'll just split off new empires, who can go out and take space and colonize planets, all the while being completely loyal to me, creating fleets of their own, and paying me 25% of their energy a month. I also love the fact that once you put down an office on a planet, it's there almost permanently; I'll throw tons of resources into getting empires halfway across the map to enter into commercial pacts with me, plant my offices on their planets, then actually determine who I want to ally with later. By the time X empire decides they don't like me, I'm already in a federation or have 2-3 defensive pacts, and I'm untouchable.

Can't stress enough how different, and how fun playing as a megacorp is.

The way ASpec pronounces "B" instils in me endless dread for all those bee memes. The Worm-In-Waiting is the best waifu, and this much is unquestionably true. But a couple (only a little bit) serious points: -While I understand the problem with Ancient Relics chains (literal ones, even), it does feel kinda true to archaeology: you slowly grind through the data present and comb for whatever else you might've missed. Granted, it kinda falls apart when you have technotombs to explore or a downed generations ship to make mind about. I guess, I'm just a sucker for a xenoarchaeology in sci-fi. I even like Straczynski's Crusade, for what it worth. -With all the things that expansions bring and all the updates that introduce some of the parts of the new systems, just how basic Stellaris as is, without any of the addons fare? I know, I know - it's a Paradox game, but it's interesting question to ponder non the less, I believe. Just as example: relatively old RTS Act of War doesn't feel that much worse without High Treason while, to contrast with another RTS, vanilla Warcraft III does feel somewhat lacking after experiencing The Frozen Throne, at least to me. Also, that 22:06 blip, heh.

I think it would be really cool if they added this 'comeback' event: Basically xxx years into the game, if a certain event is triggered, an empire (probably one of the weaker/weakest ones) will be able to submit to a power outside the galaxy (lets call it the Overlord) and gain massive buffs to their empire, but lose the ability to win the game (Maybe remove ability to do politics too?). They will also gain the ability to conquer other empires for the sake of the Overlord (Or maybe just count as a hostile to all empires) and grant them a lesser buff. The buff of an empire will increase the more empires they helped conquer for the Overlord as an incentive to keep warring (Or just make them a hostile faction or a large war like War in Heaven), while normal empires will be given large rewards for defeating/destroying an empire that is under the control of the Overlord. This can basically be a player-controlled crisis, or just a normal AI-controlled one if you have no friends. If the Overlord's empires fulfill a set 'victory' condition, maybe just stall out until the end of the game, then the Overlord wins the game. If the players defeat it entirely, the Overlord maybe tries to descend itself or just give up and leave, and each empire is given a great boon depending on their contribution.

Utopia is S tier cuz it allows you to get the gigastructures mod, which fills in the role of nemesis (becoming omega powerful), ancient relics (access to all the relics in the game), federations (massive carrier ships), apocalypse (being able to crack planets and stars), The list goes on, really

@@googlesucks478 I play in ps4 and agree, the console port seems to have been really well done, with a lot of thought put into making the controller feel a natural way to play. Also it's nice that we now have Synthetic Dawn to play with and humanoids + apocalypse later this year..

@ASpec in regard to the caravaneers there is an option in your game setup to turn them off and you will get the nomads instead which is how i usually play cause the caravaneers cause lots of problems

Well done with both the un-objective information as well as your personal ratings, describing why makes a difference as the viewer can juxtaposition their preferences and still come away with a good idea of what works for them. I got the starter pack, and during winter sale added a multi-xpac so I have everything except Mega-corp, Lithoids and Antient Relics. Since Mega-corp seems mostly an economy exploit, and Relics, a linear loot box, I don't feel I am missing much, except those Coruscant planets.

For me there is only 3 tiers: A, B, and C. A is every dlc that adds new content that changes the way you play the game (Utopia, Apocalypse, Megacorp, and yes Federations.) B is every dlc that adds new stories to the game (Leviathan, Distant Stars, and yes Ancient Relics). C is every dlc that adds new species to the game. Tier A is of utmost important to have, tier b is very nice to have, and tier c is dependant on a lot of variables.
