Stellaris is FINALLY getting a 40k Origin

7 years, that's how long it took, 7 years to get a 40k inspired origin in the game. Sure, we've had the Shroud, which are basically discount Warp Gods. But still. Multiple Mods had to pass for this finally to be possible and it's glorious.
ASpec's videos are based around the popular Grand Strategy Game; Stellaris as well as other fun science fiction properties. Delve into a galaxy that is both dark and full of secrets. This channel has tons of guide, overviews, musing and other content for you to enjoy in the semi-classic game review format. So stick around, grab a drink. Some of this content was heavily inspired by the likes of TheSpiffingBrit, RimmyDownUnder and GrayPlays. Other content is similar to that what you would find on let's play channels like The Yogscast.

"Under one Rule" hopefully gives you a very powerful leader at the start, but as soon as that leader dies the empire suffers under some sort of negatives. Only then will you have the 40K experience.

what i'm curious is how the "champions of the empire" is going to work, if it's going to work with characters you put in the jobs, it's gonna be very niche, but if it's characters you have in your pool, it's going to be extremely busted mid to late game, getting 50 governor pops and now you have 100% empire size meaning you can expand like crazy with no negative drawbacks whatsoever

I always run some kind of Dictatorial/Imperial technocratic ruler - inspired by W40K. Except I always chose to be space foxes for some reason. With the shipset mods, I'm spoilt for choice but prior to mods of ships I actually like I went the "Humanoid" shipset as they looked more like flying cities/cathedrals than the other sets.

My only consistent tradition trees are discovery, expansion and supremacy And I most likely could do without the first two, if I had to Probably even without supremacy if all I want to do is turtle up and hold the line, in which case it could be replaced with the tradition that buffs being at home and having starbases

Not a lot of story? With the one above all being a semi story origin and all the new paragons with not only a personal story but also whole possible event chains, i would say this pack has at least as much story as it has mechanical content if not more. Either way this DLC/update is looking fantastic.

Does anyone know if the new leader system is still role restricted? As in, is it still hire an Admiral and they are only an Admiral or is it more character based letting us give them the job we think is best suited? I'm imagining a 40k game/mod in which the leaders are each of the Primarchs. It'd be sick to be able to have them fill various roles. For example, being able to send them out with a fleet as an Admiral then down to the surface as a General then back to Scientist or Governer out of wartime.

Admech and IoM are materialist. The problem is Stellaris makes the Spiritualist v Materialist dichotomy into a Church v Robots dichotomy which is false. They believe the world is measurable and able to be studied vs born of conscious thought so they’re materialist. The correct answer is Authoritarian and Fanatic Xenophobe.

The Diplomacy, Discovery, and Supremacy traditions should all be removed, and all of the bonuses rolled into techs. New Traditions with more specific advantages could replace them. That would go a long way to allowing variety in successful empire design, as currently these Traditions are too important.
