Thanks for the videos you are producing. So far you give the best advice that WORKS. You are the only one who says to remove buds to stimulate leaf growth, I tried that on my suffering Creole Lady and its putting foliage back on after I almost drowned it.

Thank you! :) I also used to have a problem with my hibiscus and whitefly a few years ago. I've been lucky enough not to have that problem for the past few years... To control the whitefly i would use those yellow sticky strips as well as spraying with insecticidal soap every so often. you can also mix dishsoap and water and spray that if you don't want to use insecticidal soap. just remeber to not disturb the plant before you spray.. or they will fly off the plant.

Thank you for this video! I found it from searching a different plant. I cannot believe this!! I live in Tampa Fl for about 18 years. I had NO idea I could grow new plants from stem cuttings. :D I can find some that are used as ornamental flowers for i.e., at the entrances of subdivisions, or stores. They are common to find and see here in FL. I think I may take a few 'snips' of a few I can find when out and about. I LOVE the double hibiscus. I took out a few of my hibiscus because they got 'woody' or leggy looking. Stems got very long but when I would prune, I couldn't get it to shoot new stems from where I pruned and it just kept growing in that leggy stemy looking fashion. Was ugly, so I dug them out after having them a few years. UUGGHH

Great video! I had the same problem with white flies for years and lost several Hibiscus until I came across the formula below. 50% Water and Rubbing Alcohol 1/4 sp Murphy's Oil 1/4 sp Dish soap (Ivory/palmolive) This has worked great for me and shines the leaves as well. Good Luck.

I love Hibiscus, and luckily I found that Video from a Hibiscus lover. I do have an Indoors Hibiscus for two years now that has grown greener, but never bloomed yet! I will try all your recommendations in your 2 videos that I have watched and will let you know, Thanks!

I had this same problem. First summer, the Spring I got mine. It bloomed all Simmer. I kept it inside over winter in front of a window, and it had grown and was so healthy and covered in green leaves. I brought it outside for the Sumner thinking it would bloom beautifully. Finally, in September, no more that 6-8 blooms. I will go back and watch the second video. I’m so glad you mentioned it in the comments. Thanks.

My hibiscus 🌺 is surviving. 2019 summer it was hit by wind and cold outdoors that caused leaves to yellow and fall and half of the plant to die. I live in zone 5. I kept it indoors since then nice leaves started to grow on half of the plant I fed it for the first time ever fertilizer 10 15 10 it bloomed indoors last week :)

Hydrangeas need lots of water... a partial shade location might be a benefit if your area tends to get really hot.. even here in the middle of summer my plants will wilt mid day and look nice when the sun goes down.. that's normal.. just make sure to water often.. that should help a bit. For your hibiscus cuttings.. a little burn is ok.. it's trying to generate roots so it might be stressed.. open the bage to let it breathe then close it to keep in some humidity. good luck :)

Greetings :) Bud loss is a common problem with hibiscus when they are stressed or their cultural needs aren't met. make sure your plant is well watered and fed. also try not to move your plant around too much and keep it away from cold drafts if growing indoors.

Sure they do :) Hibiscus are heavy feeders when they are actively growing... just be sure that the Manure you use is well composted.. you don't want to burn the roots. :) you can make a Manure tea and water the plant with it :) it might like that too.

You can try planting them directly in the soil.. i think that starting them in a pot with a nice light soil mix is easier to maintain the right moisture level... as for using a plastic bag if planting them in the ground directly... you don't need to use a plastic bag but it is beneficial to use something to keep the humidity in... maybe you can cut the bottom off a pop bottle... remember not to keep them in direct sun when your trying to root them. good luck :)
@PlantzNThings11 жыл бұрын
you want to keep the cuttings in the 70's ish... so if you need to bring it indoors that an option :) i used a ziploc bag to hold in the humidity so the leaves would stay hydrated when there are no roots to pull water from the soil. you want to keep the soil moist but not soggy... so watering is a judgement call.. when you use a ziploc bag you might need to add water once.. Hope this helps :)

@Marieta Ojeda Sounds like you might be dealing with either too much water or the plant is too dry the yellowing leaves give that away. What is your watering schedule?

A fertilizer with a high middle number (phosphorus) helps with the production of healthy root systems. I wouldn't use fertilizer until the cuttings have rooted.. it is easier to burn the new roots... best to be on the careful side

a few weeks. if too much humidity builds you might have to open it sooner for a few hours. you don't want mold to form.. so just watch the cuttings

Thanks, great video, I've recently inherited a hibiscus from my in-laws when they moved. It is about 4 ft. across and 5 ft. tall. and I do not have room for it inside during the winter months. It has sentimental value so I do not wish to get rid of it. Can I prune it in the winter and is it possible to start from trimmings in the winter indoors?
@chrissiestevens100111 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy to know this information. I just bought 2 tall hibiscus trees but when I put them in my car (carefully) a branch broke off. The only questions I have is whether the cuttings should be at 45 degree angle? Do they need to be dipped in root starter? Can I make several cuttings from the one branch? Its about 2 feet long, with lots of other small branches coming off that one big one, so I have lots of potential!

Thank you for your detailed instructions. I do have a question regarding the ziplock bag. I live in Northern California (San Jose), will I need to do the zip lock method and bring it in doors as well? Also, how often do you water it within the 2 weeks while it's rooting?

Thanks :)
