Today, I am DELIGHTED to share with you a brand new, AMAZING knitting pattern, and it's also Part 2 of our three-part Learn to Knit Brioche series! Yay! Today's pattern is the Josephine scarf/shawl combo, and it features two-color brioche knitting!

In this video, I show you how to work two-color brioche, both left- and right-handed. To really get the most out of this sequential series, you'll want to complete the patterns in the order that they're released because the skills will build on each other. Josephine is an Intermediate level pattern and is ideal for those knitters who are comfortable with basic, single-color brioche knitting techniques and are ready to work with two colors and advance their brioche knitting skills.
Josephine uses our Pearlescent Worsted and Enduring Worsted yarns. Two skeins of each color are needed for the scarf, and three skeins of each color are needed for the shawl. Our single-ply Pearlescent Worsted is shimmering, heavenly, and wildly popular. It’s a delicious and glowing blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Mulberry Silk. Our Enduring Worsted is a durable blend of 80% Superwash Merino Wool and 20% Nylon. A nice, tight twist results in beautifully defined stitches and projects that will hold up well.

YAY! Part two with the two-color brioche! Thank you so much for this. You really make it look so easy. Some of the patterns I've seen for brioche things make it seem so complicated, but you demonstrating it so nicely helps a lot. Thank you also for demonstrating how to do it if you knit with the yarn in your right hand. Is it just me, or would brioche like this make one of the world's coziest sweaters???

Another reason I love this pattern, is my pekichon is named Josephine! She was my mom's dog, and I brought her home when she passed. Josephine is 15 years young! I think she'll live longer than me! Thanks again Chandi!

Thank you for showing both knitting styles! I knit in the English style (as taught by my Mom as a kid), so it's always nice to see what things look like in that style too! I must admit, though, that continental looks so much faster and easier at times. Perhaps, one of these days, I'll finally try to learn and switch. this is something i am going to try in the new year. I must admit it is something i have found daunting even though I would consider myself an experienced knitter. but with your wonderful tutorial i will be doing this. Just need to decide which colour combination to go for. Can this be knitted using double pointed needles? Just that i am not keen on circular needles.

Hi Judy, thank you for your message. I'm happy to help with that. A life line is a strand of yarn that is "knitted into" your work along one row in case you have to frog back and don't want to loose any stitches. This is often done if you work a complicated stitch pattern like lace or a use a technique that is new to you. We have a tutorial on what life lines are and how to place them.
