This could not have come at a more perfect time. So far I have been opting for letting the groomer trim both of my dogs' nailes every 6 weeks or so. I just found out last week that I'm going to have to trim Sammy's nails every 1-2 weeks when he is a therapy dog. They said they should be short enough to not hear them click. Ideally he will be sitting on hospital beds with sick children and we don't want anyone to get accidently scratched. I'm pretty sure that I'm the one that needs the most desensitization with the nail trimming.

We have two litter-sister English Bull-Jack Russell mix pups; 6 months old. They have shredded my hubby’s & myself’s skin here and there. They’re extremely smart and loving. If I had to count on them to clean our old (67 & 74) faces, we’d be set for life❣️These girls are pure love🥰🐶🐶😍! We only tried to clip nails once a few months ago, & only one nail on one pup. Her reaction was so much fearful that I haven’t tried since. My hubby is blind & cannot do hands-on care such as nails. They often nap laying either behind him on his chair, or beside his lap. I intend to thoroughly digest this video and try again (& again with a time out for the pup & ME, if necessary). I am so glad I saw this, as I was going to have the Vet or VetTech do their nails, but now??…NO! Thank-You hugely for making these extremely helpful videos!🙏! Blessings to all of you…for peace, good health, prosperity, joy, and genuine love throughout your live’s journeys🌻❣️

I'm either lucky or lazy--I'm not sure which. I have a poodle mix and for her, a trip to the groomer every 4 to 6 weeks is a necessity (not a nicety). I also let the groomer bathe our other two dogs. She does their nails, gives them a potty patch, and gets them all pretty. While I groom them every day (brush, comb, and do their teeth), our groomer does the majority of the work, including the less pleasant tasks (like a nail trim and a potty patch). I practiced touching their feet with all of them since they were pups, so I don't think they're too bad (at least the groomer has never mentioned how horrible they are; usually she's full of praise about what good puppies we have).

This is one area that we just can't seem to conquer. At two and a half, our pup still hates for us to trim her nails, to the point of throwing a fit. We've cut too short when she moves her foot, and that really turned her off. We take her to the groomer, and they say she is timid about it, but doesn't throw fits.... It's frustrating. We'll keep trying.

Hi there, I watched a lot of your videos, thank you so much for making that content is very helpful, also I have a little issue with my new puppy, I was wondering if you could give an advice? We brought our Cavapoo gril puppy just 2 weeks ago I’ve been with her home since, potty training her and the rest, it looks like she got really attached to me as I can’t even go upstairs to the toilet without her barking or crying, she sleeps in her crate next to my bed in the night with no problem, just somtimes when I go to toilet from bed and she realised am gone she cries sometimes, is getting more difficult and I don’t know what to do, I wanna teach her how to be by herself, she also follows me almost everywhere

It's common for puppies to not want to be alone, but it's good for you to work with her to build her confidence being alone. Building her confidence is how you can prevent separation anxiety. We can't solve this for you in a comment but we have a crate training mini course that can help you. You can use the same games to build up her independence in a pen when you step away. This process should be done with a knowledge of canine communication so you can keep it positive and stress free. Take a look at the mini course here: courses.howtotrainadreamdog.com/crate-training-course

@@HowToTrainADreamDog thank you, oh I wish but unfortunately I don’t have the founds for the course right now, she is ok with her crate she doesn’t love it but she doesn’t hate it either, when she falls asleep during the day I just put her in there but not long after she comes out and lays on the floor next to my feet 😅 am teaching her stay and is going well, I guess I made a mistake not having a crate when she first came home. When am not around and she is with my partner she doesn’t even wanna play with him 🥲

Hi Paulina, my little cavoodle girl is the same..Took her home for nearly 10days...She is 9.5weeks old and she clings on to me like how you described it...I made a mistake too by not using crate cos my hubby and daughter told me how cruel it is...But after nights of bad sleep, we realized how critical is for puppy to learn to be independent.. she hates the crate but I kept playing with her inside and Chuck high value treat and peanut butter Kong in and all that, tonight will try her out in crate and will take her out for number 1 around 2am... I heard that around 12weeks , they can sleep through the night better... I also cover the crate too.. and when she isn't in the crate, she is in the playpen and I will play with her in there...I feel like it's hard love but for her to grow out of anxiety, I need to be persistent. When she isn't crying, I will pick her up for a bit to show love and then put down..I know it must be hard as our little pups are soo loving and all they need is love but I want it to be sustainable 😍

Having admitted that a groomer does my dogs' nails, I do my cats' nails myself. One of out kitties is very, very good about getting her nails trimmed. The other one--is definitely NOT.
