Happiest of days, my friend! Today, I have a lovely, moon inspired crochet shawl that I think you're going to adore! The delightful, crescent shaped Lune shawl features beautiful textures and gorgeous lace. Let Lune calm and soothe your spirit as you crochet it!
Download Lune at www.expression...

Lune uses our wonderfully soft and toasty Twisted Tweed Sport yarn. This unique fiber blend includes two types of wool that are twisted together. Because they take the dye differently, the result is a cool, barber pole effect with gold, plum, and brown Donegal Tweed neps flecked throughout. This yarn base has such an earthy, homey, charming feel. It can be dressed down and worn in the most casual of cozy settings or dressed up for elegant occasions. Twisted Tweed Sport has a heirloom, yet hip, modern vibe. This yarn is a heartwarming blend of 43% Superwash Merino Wool, 42% Fine Merino Wool, and 15% Donegal with 384 yds/351 m per skein.
The sample shown here was made with our Grassland Hues Twisted Tweed Sport Kit and used approximately 1,460 yds/1,335 m total (Color A: 370 yds/338 m, Color B: 370 yds/338 m, Color C: 350 yds/320 m, and Color D: 370 yds/338 m).

My father would tell me that when he sees the moon, he thought of me and wondered if I was looking at it too. He lost his sight a year ago and as an artist of 92 years, this was devastating. It was then I that would tell him when I saw the moon and what phase it was in. He would ask waxing or waning... He has been wanting himself over the last year and peacefully passed last week. I hope he knows that I'm still looking up at the heavens for him.

As a young girl living on the farm with my grandma, we used to sit on the porch, my head resting on her lap, listening to the cicadas, frogs, and coyotes, and watch the moon rise. We would play a game. What do you see in the moon. Those days are still vivid even though she's been gone many years.

I love the description in the Bible where it calls the moon a "faithful witness" (Psalm 89, verse 37). It makes me think of all the incredible people through the millenniums that have looked up at the same moon that I'm looking at and been awed and inspired.

As a young girl I delivered newspapers with my dad. It was usually still dark out when we made the deliveries. He told me ‘if we can see the moon it isn’t going to rain’. To this day when I see the moon, I think of my dad, our time together and his saying. Generally this saying has proven true. Thank you for helping me remember my dad at this moment. 💕

I was with my Maltese husband in Malta. It was hot and we decided to go for an evening swim. We had the whole beach to ourselves so we swam naked down a silver ribbon from the gorgeous full moon under a cloudless purple sky. Off in the distance we could softly hear a band playing "String of Pearls". Suddenly off to our right and some distance away there was a glorious display of fireworks the colors reflecting on us and the water. I will never forget this perfect night shared with the love of my life. In my mind I return to this memory whenever I feel the need to remind myself how beautiful life is. ❤ This shawl is so lovely. I adore the moon in all its phases.

The moon has always been a symbol of mysticism, and yet calming and steady at the same time. I have enjoyed many, many evenings and nights quietly sitting, sometimes laying on the grass, staring at the moon absorbing the still serenity of the moment. Each memory is precious. It's a beautiful shawl! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely story 💖 Have a magical day!!

My favorite evening walks are when the moon is full and the white clouds are visible. It is so peaceful. My love for crochet started when I was 15. For the past 10 years, I’ve been able to crochet (and now knit) for my church group. We give out a wide range of items that can be knit and crochet. I find it very rewarding.

As a pagan who honors the moon, I must say this shawl is gorgeous. I really want to make it to wear for my full moon rituals. To me, the moon is all about connecting with the Divine Feminine and one's powers of intuition. I read tarot and oracle cards that correspond to lunar magick and astrology.

When I see the moon I look at it's different colors. I love it when it's so big it looks like you could touch it. But mainly I think of the moon as a sign to us as the book of Genesis says that the sun, the moon & the stars are a sign to us... intriguing how God speaks to us. Your shawl reminds me of the moon over rippling waters. The color transitions and the lacey drape are beautiful!

I learned how to crochet from my Grandma at the age of 5, who loved to crochet lace tablecloths and doilies. Watching her crochet was mesmerizing for me and I literally spent hours admiring her beautiful handiwork. Life happens, and now many years later, I cherish having the time to resume this most relaxing hobby.

What a lovely pattern! One night when I was a young teen, I woke up in the middle of the night and was drawn to my window. I did not understand why. But when I went to the window, there was such a beautiful tableau of a full moon shining down on a lovely red rose that seemed to be reaching up toward my window from the rosebush planted there. It was breathtaking and felt it was a special gift to me! I'll never forget that night.

"For the Sun loved the Moon soo much, he died for her each night, so that she could breath" That poem is as beautiful as the moon is to me. Every evening, weather permitting, I do a sunset and moon rise meditation outside in my garden, especially on a new moon night. Intentions and manifestations are put out into the universe on a new moon and they come into fruition on a full moon. I love this pattern so much that I rushed off to my sewing room and grabbed some speckly yarn from my bits n bobs, ordered the pattern and am now happily crocheting along with you, while I madly work on manifesting the beautiful yarn for this pattern. a perfect friday evening - Thank you sooo much for the free pattern 🥰

I think my most memorable moment with the moon is this. When I was in high school, many moons ago. I was walking home from the train station( I grow up in nyc). I don’t remember why I was walking as I usually would have taken a bus the second half of my commute home. I was walking kind of mindlessly and to be honest I was a little turned around. I had moved into my grandmother’s house and so I was as familiar as I had imagined. As the sky darkened I was getting nervous that I truly was lost and I turned a corner. And the moon was all I could see. It was huge it felt like it was filling the whole sky the whole street. I remember feeling safe I just kept walking towards the moon and found my way out of the neighborhood I had wandered into and onto the main road. I got distracted in the moment of knowing where I was. But when I looked up the moon was higher in the sky and the time had passed but I always remember that little lost girl the moon guide home, and I am grateful

Hi Chandi. This is over of the most beautiful shawls. Since I consider myself a fairly intermediate crocheter, I will definitely try this one and as usual your instructions are so easy to follow. Living in the rural South, USA, some 60 years ago, I happily remember when the night sky was clear and so open to allow moon and stargazing with the naked eye. It was always a treat to look up and locate the moon and to see the different shapes the moon took.

As you were talking about watching the moon, it reminded me deeply of the recent total eclipse. I live in the path of it and i got to walk outside and watch right from my front door! It makes me tear up thinking about it now, but as the moon eclipsed the sun, there was silence. I felt the powerful connection between me and the thousands of other people watching this same incredible thing!! That was the most powerful feeling of interconnectedness ive experienced. It brings me a mix of wonderful emotions everytime i think about it.. peace, hope, connection ❤

Beautiful shawl, Chandi!! Thank you for the opportunity to win the yarn kit. ... I have many memories of the moon so it's difficult to pick just one memory to share. So I wrote this poem. The Moon constant, always changing. Life constant, to a point, always changing. The moon changing in slow phases, constantly beautiful. Life changing in slow phases, always beautiful. The Sun constant light, warmth, love, reflecting on the moon. Time constantly moving forward, changing light, constant love, shadows and light, reflecting light, slowly revealing. Patiently we wait, anticipating the moon's face reflecting light in full glory.

Well, it was such an easy enjoyable pattern that I just never stopped crocheting 😁 I finished the shawl on the evening of the full moon - so she certainly deserves her name "Lune" 🌕. I am, however, still manifesting your beautiful yarn, and then I will make her again and gift Luna to my sister Dyane for her bday ... silly fact .. it took me 7 days to crochet Lune and the moon will be full 7 days after my beloved sisters birthday - Oh My Soul ...Its a sign 😂🤣😘

Im from Spain and every 23th of June we celebrate Saint John's night. We set up bonfires, dance around them... There are different traditions; one of them is writing the bad things that happened the previous year in a piece of paper and burning it, another one is writing 3 wishes and burning the pieces of paper while go around the bonfire 3 times. Some people jump over the bonfire... If we celebrate on the beach we have to jump over 3 waves to get our wishes granted... I remember the smoke smell, the heat, the traditional music and folkloric dances... And the moon. That bright moon over the bonfires and the sea. That moon watching us celebrate, dance and swim... It's magical! Please, I'd love a short tutorial showing us how to wear and style the different kind of shawls. You look gorgeous wearing them.😊

When I was a child, I had insomnia and would stare out the window watching the moon and stars and how the moon changed its shape and became whole again. In time, I began to wonder about the universe, the sun, the planets and creation so then I kept wondering about God, who he is, why of everything and of humans and why am I here? Somehow I thought of the Bible and that’s where the answers are but I didn’t get one until I became a teenager. I tried reading it myself but I needed help, like the ancient Beroeans (Acts 17:11) so i studied the Bible with someone and what an eye opener plus it was life changing for me. It’s been 50 years and it was the best decision I ever made ❣️ Chandi , this shawl is gorgeous and I ❤❤❤ the colors, my favorite 😍 Thank you and enjoy your weekend 🤩🤩🤩

I have fond memories of sitting on my grandparents' front porch, enjoying the summer night's breeze. Growing up in the city, I loved spending summers in the country with my grandparents. My Nana would tell me to look at the moon and she would state what the next day's weather would be based on the colors surrounding the night moon. However, autumn is my favorite season, so I love the harvest moon -- orange-yellow, lying low and heavy in the night sky.

I love how there are so many phases and names that the moon has throughout the months, years, decades, etc. Growing up I always heard the phrase “once in a blue moon.” Of course, as a child, I figured that there was no such thing. With regards to the Moon, I am the same as you Chandi in that I marvel that people around the world are looking at exactly the same moon as I am. My favorite moon is the Harvest Moon, it is usually huge and breathtaking. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.

I remember my first lunar eclipse when I was about 7 or 8. My dad and I could watch it from an upstairs window. The familiar bright light in the sky slowly became covered in an amazing dark orange-red blanket. And just as slowly, it turned back into the bright light in the sky we were used to. It was so magical that even decades later, I can still see that darkened orb through the window in my mind's eye.

Beautiful shawl. Thank you Chandi for sharing it with us. My strongest memory of the moon is watching astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in their moon walk. As a child it gave me the feeling I can do anything. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Being born under the sign of the sign of the moon, astrologically speaking, I’ve always been drawn to the moon! I love gazing in the night sky during the different phases of the moon, especially when the moon is full! Really looking forward to trying this pattern! Thank you for sharing this pretty pattern! The yarn is gorgeous!

Many years ago on a full moon, I was soaking (skinny dipping )in a hot springs. I pulled myself out to sit on the side of the pool and the man next to me said “darling, you shine like a pearl”. I thought to myself, I can do that. That is still (30 years later) one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received.

I remember a clear moonlit night, the first year of my marriage. We were doing a night parachute jump, and one of my parachute cords got looped over the canopy - known as a Mae West. I had to deploy the reserve chute, which I did badly, but finally got it inflated. I was very grateful for that full moon, that made it possible to see what I was doing and where I was going. Not a very romantic memory, but a memorable one. Thank you for another beautiful pattern!

Totally off topic, Chandi you did a great job on your dress. It is beautiful and flattering! I love the colors. What I like about the moon is how it changes appearance. Orange, blue, cressant , half, full, close, or far away. It keeps me tuned in every night to see what mood It is in.

I've always loved the sunset, dusk and the night. A big part of that is that I find it to be incredibly peaceful and the 'star' of the night is truly the Moon- no matter the phase, it's always a beautiful companion. Love the pattern, I've downloaded it and the yarn is stunning. Thank you for another wonderful video and message. Have a great weekend!

Love moons. I have a few blue moons tattooed on me... All cuz ppl would say once in a blue moon well now it's always a blue moon with me 😂 now that I'm older it's kicking me 😂. That just gave me an idea I might have to do it blue for a blue moon. I love ur patterns. Never tried ur yarn. Maybe once the kids get outta school.

Well, seeing i am working on my first crochet shawl after seeing this, makes me look forward to making something more intricate for my next project. It’s beautiful! I am an Aquarian, so me and the moon are very much in toon with each other. A full moon brings me peace and calmness. It’s the light in the darkness.

I always love looking up the moon and marveling and how bright it actually is. Very interesting the name of this beautiful shawl Lune. Also , when I see the full moon I start to wonder if my students are going to act a little crazy the next day. Lol. After all Lune is short for lunatic. Just kidding. Seriously, I absolutely adore this shawl and will definitely make this one. 😀

Good morning🥰 Even as a child I would sit outside for hours just looking up at the sky watching the moon. There was something so magical and comforting. About the moon and its phases. I love the beautiful shawl it is a wonderful reminder of the moon’s tenderness💕

Oh that's gorgeous and I love the stay on your shoulders part so much. I've loved to look at the moon all my life. It was the thing my children and grandchildren first got excited about in the sky from the youngest ages. We still look for it always and if we aren't together, we call each other and ask, "Did you see the moon"?!

When my adult children first left the house, one was serving in Afghanistan/ Marines, his twin sister moved to LA to start school. It was difficult having them so far away. I would have curtains open with the full moon shining down. At this time was when I would cry and ask the Lady/Moon that they'd be watched over and come home safely.

All my life I have been a big science fiction fan. Many stories and movies I've loved have had "Moon bases" where humans migrated to and lived. That concept has always fascinated me. So when I see a full moon, I'm also looking at a childhood dream of going there one day. I think, if I make this shawl, I'll have to find a liitle rocket ship pin to add to it. =)

Such a beautiful pattern in lovely muted colours. Earth colours are definitely for me. Down here in Tasmania the air is cleaner and clearer than almost anywhere else in the world. This makes viewing of the moon, especially when full, a wonderful experience. On a cold, crisp night in winter there is nothing better than wrapping yourself in something warm and snuggly, sitting outside and watching the moon rise. Glorious.

Drove up a hill one evening in southern California and met up with a rising moon still low on the horizon. It appeared disproportionately gigantic and I had to do a double-take and try not to drive off the road. This was in the days before the internet, so I had no idea what I'd just experienced, but it took my breath away. I've had many incredible encounters with the moon since then, but that's the craziest for sure. It wasn't until years later that I learned about the "moon illusion." It blew my mind.

I stepped out onto Geary Blvd. here in SF, one evening when there was a Supermoon. Geary has three lanes of traffic in each direction, plus parking on both sides, and a wide meridian strip, so basically nine lanes plus the sidewalks. Yet the rising moon appeared to be wider than the street, partially hidden behind buildings on both sides! It was enough to stop me in my tracks, and held me spellbound for several minutes. Unfortunately, it was before phones came with a camera. The dramatic size of this shawl fits so well with that memory.

When I think of the moon I think of our Hawaii visits. The Moonlite beaches, the calm sounds of the waves splashing into the shoreline and the gorgeous air of plumeria excites the senses! I too think of all the people who view that same moon as well! Just love the calming music you play in the background of your videos!

When I was in college, my room's window opened to the roof of the first-floor living room. During summer nights, when the moon is bright, I sit on the roof, sometimes with snacks and look up to the moon or the tall buildings in the business district, just thinking of random things. I missed that time of my life, my youth, my only problems being exams. 😅

When I was 7, my family was camping in Canada. My parents said that we would go to bed when the moon went down. It was summer. It turns out that we were up til almost 11:30. A fellow camper stopped by to talk and mentioned the time. My siblings and I were in bed within 15 minutes. 😂 We still talk about this at family gatherings.

The moon brings me joy. As a kid, some of the best times was playing kick the bucket at night 😊. My mother told me a story of when she was a kid. She said every Sunday evening her and her siblings would visit their grandparents. The grandparents told them to bring their toothbrushes. After dark, they all gathered around a bonfire holding their toothbrushes because the grandparents told them that if they tossed their toothbrush in the fire, it would shoot them to the moon 😂. My mom said she remembered being terrified but excited because they wanted to go but wasn’t sure how they would get home. 😅

Hi Chandi. Very pretty pattern. I love the shape and the post stitches. I have a beautiful memory of the moon that holds a special place in my heart. I was in Hawaii with my family as a teenager. I believe we were on Kauai. Outside of our hotel room there was a beautiful cove with trees hanging over the water. One night I walked down and the moon was high in the sky on the right side glistening shimmering light over the water with the palm trees hanging over as well. It was a spectacular and moving sight, one which I will never forget. I was awestruck. I also love the way that the moon controls the ocean tides. Magnificent! Thanks for this lovely new pattern. Have a lovely weekend. ❤❤.

When I was little, 6 to 8 years old, my bedroom window faced the backyard and I had the view of the base airstrip beacon. It was always there as I looked out. I remember being mesmerized when the moon was also appearing. Wow, hadn't thought about that in a very long time
