As far as the panel light goes, I never added on because the bed light were extremely bright. But I used 6 bed lights. I had 2 left over. I would have just cut the plug off one of the lights and drill a small hole in the panel and just wire the panel light with the headlights. Diagrams on prior post. Good luck

Great video! thank you. quick question.. If I don't need a fuse is it OK if I leave the fuse that came with the panel I bought? or do I need to cut it out?
@fredsgarage19254 ай бұрын
You do not need the fuse because the wire is already fused to the fuse panel. If you want to leave it as an extra fuse that’s up to you. But then if it blows you will have to remove the panel to get to it. I cut my fuse off and just use the trucks fuse. Good luck
@wallyhorta55273 ай бұрын
@@fredsgarage1925 Hi, do you know where the fuse is located? Thanks.
@fredsgarage19253 ай бұрын
The here are 2 fuse panels on the Maverick. 1 is under the hood, near the battery,( non hybrid )while secondary panels can be found in the passenger compartment, often hidden behind a removable panel. Just google “ Maverick fuse panels.

Fred, is the power supply back there always hot, ign, or batt? I want to do something similar to what you did but the answer to this will effect how I implement. Thanks so much.
@fredsgarage192510 ай бұрын
Hi, that power supply is only hot for 90 minutes after you turn the Maverick off. Ford did it that way to save the battery. All you have to do after the 90 minutes is just turn the ignition on and off for another 90 minutes. If you are going to wire it directly to the battery you should consider upgrading the 12 v battery. Ford installed a pretty cheap battery. In the Maverick. Good luck.

Fred thanks again for the video. I already have a three gang switch panel with with three u s b outlets, And a twelve volt cigarette plug, And 3 of the boat switches. Had I seen your switch panel before? I bought this one I would have got it. I could not find one with just 2 Switches, So my third switch will be Use for something in the future. I decided to go with the 12 V. Cigarette lighter plug in as I have a 400 W. Inverter that will plug in and also a small compressor that uses a cigarette lighter Plug outlet. I also have the l e d light strips to go in the bed for each side. So I may need a little guidance when I get ready to do this and hopefully this video will help thanks again

It isn't clear to me if your procedure works on a hybrid, which is what I have. Please clarify. My understanding is that the combination of Liion battery, umpteen computers, and the standard starting battery, requires special wiring. That is why to install a trailer wiring harness, I am supposed to go though an electronic controller to the connecting plug. I don't think going direct to the 12v battery is recommended. I do know that to add a power inverter, it is supposed to use a direct battery hook up. Given the "sensitivity" of the hybrid electronics, I rejected installing one. In your video, though, you are tying directly into what I think is essentially an auxillary socket for a standard, gasoline-powered vehicle. If so, then maybe I don't need the fancy wiring kit I ordered. By the way, I just bought another cubby for the driver's side of the Maverick bed. Instead of using that space for outlets and switches, I'm considering designing a tonneau cover consisting of two solar panels that can be opened like old-fashioned storm-cellar doors. I can put LiIon batteries inside the bed paneling, adjacent to the cubbys and use one of them to mount outlets and contain a control panel.
@fredsgarage1925Ай бұрын
@@DokDream Hello, I also have a hybrid, the wiring that I am using in the video are the ford factory wiring with the added pigtail that ford gave us. (Only one )( if you need another pigtail for the other side amazon sells them, they are in my description section). As far as trailer hitch is concerned, you need to go through a trailer wiring harness with built in control box, like a Curt or something similar. I just wired my Bronco trailer connection and the kit plugs into my taillight but also ran a 12 gauge fused power wire directly to the battery. I love the solar bedcover, a company called Worksport just developed that idea. Their website would be a good resource. Hope this helped. Good luck.
