Changed two organizations forever. Bogut was key to their two Finals runs. Ellis leaving gave Klay full-time starting duties. And if Curry had gone to the Bucks, they may not have been able to draft Giannis later.

@@ssk58607 That’s not how it works. You shouldn’t compare the players individually and conduct a conclusion based off of that crappy evidence. There’s more to it then just a lame side-by-side comparison. In order for a duo to be great, they need to have the chemistry together and almost bond. Steph and Giannis would be a more lethal duo because of their skills COMBINED. Obviously, I think Kareem and Magic would be more dominant but in terms of who is a better duo, it’s Steph and Giannis. You have to also take into consideration that Giannis really young and is already on pace to become a future all-time great. Who knows. Maybe later on in his career he can potentially become a better player than scoring machine Kareem and playmaker Magic. However, that’s my take to the situation. I just feel like your method of deciding who is a better duo isn’t reliable. Therefore, it is a bad take.

They were NEVER going to trade Steph. Don Nelson was asked after the draft, when the common thought was they took him to trade him because they had a point guard, if they were going to trade him and he shut it down, " No, we like his game". Nothing happened in between then and the day Ellis got traded to change anything. Ellis got traded because he couldn't really take a back seat to what was obviously even at that time a much better player. Mark Jackson telling Steph "It could have been you" doesn't mean anything. Steph says the players thought they could push for a playoff spot before the Monta/Bogut trade. That must have been a gut punch when Monta got traded-- not just because your leading scorer was gone, but because they traded him for a player who was out for the year, signaling unequivocally that the front office was full-on trying to lose games. They had a top 7 protected pick and had to finish with one of the 7 worst records to keep that pick (and had to have the 4th worst record to guarantee they kept it-- they wanted to lose a ton of games.) Without Ellis they managed to lose EXACTLY enough. If they won 1 more game, they would have lost the right to pick Harrison Barnes, a starter and finisher for their first Title team. They also would have lost the pick if they lost a coin flip with the Raptors, or if any of 7 best Lottery teams had moved into the top 3 after the Lottery.

Steve Kerr unleashed Curry's full potential. Notice Mark Jackson was considered a good coach but was not able to get a championship. Steve Kerr came in with his coaching system and able to maximize Curry's talent.

No disrespect to Steve Kerr, but I still think Mark Jackson got a raw deal. His final year they were decent, but they just had a few key injuries and lost to the Lob City Clippers in 7 games.

Mark Jackson was not one to make a ton of adjustments. I think that played a role in why they decided to go a diff direction. If you watched tht game 7, we just let them lob it up to Deandre Jordan and Blake time and time again with no resistance.
