Early in my career, I was working with a woman not too much older than me who was getting married and then going on a hiking sabbatical shortly after with her husband. As a Black Woman, I couldn’t fathom that idea. Especially doing it while young. All I could think was, “How do you save that much money” and “What if you can’t find a job when you come back?” But she had no concerns!

After working for a company for 23 years it was Time To Go!! I lived off my 401k for 2 years. Took some classes thinking I was going to start a new career however, ended up going through health issues. Was blessed with a new job, worked there for seven years then retired when I was 62. No Regrets.

My prayer is that all Black women get a chance to live the whole life they desire. My prayer is for all Black women to get what they want need and desire from life while they are on this earth and enjoy life with rest, ease, safety, freedom and restful sleep, long sits on a nice porch, walks on a beach or just sitting in a nice chair looking out window. Priceless.

You can do that in the medical field because work is accessible. Taxes has to be paid if a person is not of the required age. Uncle sam added it to the person's income and comes April the IRS is owed a hugh and I mean hugh sum.

I have 3 months of unused vacation time. I just resigned from my FT job & will be paid 3 months salary from that vacation time. That unused PTO will fund my summer sabbatical and search for a better position. I am so grateful! Also, I am going to borrow less than $10K from my whole life insurance policy to pay off my credit cards. My policy builds cash value. My offspring are beginning to earn money to pay their own expenses, so they will be fine with the slightly reduced death benefit in the case of my untimely demise.

I am waiting two years to receive full retirement HOWEVER...😬..thanks to your urging I have discovered that I can receive those funds (a decent chunk of change) if I leave my current job and NOT be penalized and continue with my second career (sizeable amount) and take care of myself working part-time without having to collect my pension. I am inspired🧡

When it comes to IF, do what works for YOU, regardless of age. I'm 51 and usually do 16/8. What you also need to keep in mind is the quality of the calories consumed during the eating window and of course keeping in mind, exercise, rest, and hydration. They all work together for overall wellness.

Some remote work companies restrict/deny workers from California because: California independent contractor laws define an independent contractor as a person or business who provides a specific service to another company in exchange for compensation, and who is under managerial control for results and not how the work is done. These laws are based on California Assembly Bill 5, which took effect in January 2020 and requires companies to reclassify independent contractors as employees if their job functions fall within the company's core business. Independent contractors do not have the same rights and protections as employees under California law, such as overtime pay, minimum wage, unemployment insurance, and anti-discrimination laws.

If the person is not of the required age and take money from their 401k there is a penalty plus comes April 15 of the following year it will be added to the income of the previous year and the Federal taxes is due which is hugh plus if you live in a state that pays taxes you have to pay state taxes too. Ex. If you earn $50,000 in the middle of 22 and decides to take $50,000 from 401k . There is a 20% penalty if you are not at the age required to take it then you will be taxed on $100,000. In the end you will probably get only about $30,000 of the $50,000. It's best to pay off all your bill save,save all your salary for one year then live off your savings for a year if the sabbatical is a year. If it's a Roth IRA that's different. That's after tax dollars taxes will be due on profits only. Some companies have a limit on how much a person can take from 401k.
@adeadekanmbi502 Жыл бұрын
Penalty is 10% not 20% for early 401k withdrawal..but additionally fed and state tax will also be taken
@KC-qr3wk Жыл бұрын
This is the way. Formulate a plan. Move into a room, your car, etc. Save as much of your income as possible in a HYSA and when you hit the number you need - go. Leave your investments where they are…
@eileenwatt8283 Жыл бұрын
@@adeadekanmbi502 it doesn't matter what the percentage is. Why take money out and pay penalties and taxes. The person will be putting themselves in debt if they can't pay the penalties and taxes. If they can pay it then use that money as the source to live on while on sabbatical and don't withdraw any money from the retirement until you are actually retired and have no income the year of withdrawal so it wouldn't be added to wages. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not a good idea. I know people who didn't listen and took money out to purchase vacation home abroad. They ended up having to pay over $60,000 to Uncle Sam plus state taxes which are all on a payment plan now. Their company got sold and laid off all employees. Now they are unable to work and stuck with IRS payments. Save, save and pay off all debt before venture into Sabbatical. Peace of mind.

Stephanie I’ve been following your channel off and on for some time now and each time I hear you speak I dream of what it would be like for me to be a house sitter and when I say dream I mean just that. The reason I can only dream for the moment is because I’m 61 years old and I’m tired of corporate America BUT my employer does not permit a sabbatical and I have not been a good steward of my finances so I don’t have enough savings to quit my job and live the kind of life I so wish I could live which is to travel…and if I were to quit my job I couldn’t come back because of my age and I can’t take a sabbatical without quitting…is there any help for someone like me😢

Think of how you improve your income or better still increase your options.. Can you take in a paying lodger? teach a skill? babysit? offer respite assistance to full time carers? Ma'am, please do NOT allow mistakes of the past to imprison a beautiful future. Think of the possibility of additional decades that God may have in store for you. As one 60 something to another, ditch the pessimism. Pray, encourage yourself and start today. Life is the living. 😍

This just started playing after I was watching the news. This doesn't apply to me I more than likely won't make it to the age of 65 years old for many reasons. So there is no 401k or retirement for me or no vanguard savings account because I am chronically ill and I am still somewhat young. My life was somewhat like Ms Sophia and Ms ceily where I had to constantly fight someone or something or some system some business industry society hatred racism men etc. I really never had the full supportive resources to live my life in my adult teens twenties and now my thirties. I was a multialented woman I was so many wonderful things but had a lot of issues as well but I am and had to naturally be resilient. I can only move across the United States not across the country or the world
