Thank you. I am 5 months into my ju jitsu journey. This choke resulted in the first time I have seen someone choked unconscious at my gym. Very savvy on the part of the blue belt here to quickly tap with his foot. When I saw it applied, the student who was choked out later told me that this choke was so powerful and happened so fast, that in heat of the moment he was unable to tap with either hand - he mentioned that in the position he was put in, he did not have either hand free - and could not talk to say the word "tap" due to the choke. The foot tap may have saved him from going out. Fortunately our professor was right on top of it, and noticed the student was out before even his opponent did. Like you said, this is one very powerful choke

@@RoZaxTheGreat Thank you for asking. I just got my fourth stripe on my blue belt. I cant imagine life without jiu jitsu. How are you doing with things? Peace my friend, thanks!

@@radishbeet2130 that's amazing man, great progress, congrats! I started in 2016 but quit Gi at 2 stripe wb and did nogi since then, then took 3 years off from 2020 - Jan 2023. Just restarted it Gi and Nogi both and have progressed fast, think im about 4 stripe blue belt level now too as I can hang with the purples (despite still being a 2 stripe wb technically haha). Grading coming up soon so we r gonna find out 😂

@@radishbeet2130 Hey man! Its been a year. How's it going? Are you working to get your purple belt? I've just started my BJJ journey. I've only had 4 classes so far and I'm absolutely loving it! I'm getting tapped out every single time I roll, but hey, its part of the process lol.

Thank you. I was messing this up last night and I see the technique of what to do with your non-choking arm. Makes so much difference and so much more sense. Thank you. I just subscribed for more!! Stay Learning Community!!!

There a sambo variation of this move, along with grabbing the collar you also grab the far leg. This forces your opposite forward while lifting his bottom half up, increasing the choke as you lay on his shoulders.

Opening the lapel and getting the grip is harder said than done. I can never get it on blue belts or higher. Good video though.

Attack under the armpit first to get the reaction of them bringing the elbow down and in, then switch over it to the collar grip

@@FFTuk ooh I like this. Are you saying you, after baiting them(let's say with the left hand under), go over with the same hand you baited with (left)? Or are you saying more is when you sink in the right hand?
@FFTuk3 жыл бұрын
@@bradymigel5581 no probs man, yeah bait under with the left, then over with the same left hand after getting the reaction. Let me know how you get on with it bud 👍

How bout skipping step 2 and just get a deep grip at the get go? Passing step 2 isn't gonna work on anything but whitebelts, right? Att least my method will have a slight chance on landing on those 2 stripe blues. Oss

I'm looking to join jiujitsu but it seems I align more with helio mentality of self defense jiujitsu rather than sport (I would prefer to focus more on standup and ground for fighting and to go for submissions rather than points)... The good thing seems to be that marcus is a direct student of carlson who was taught by helio and Carlos. So the knowledge and mentality might still be more self defense focused rather than sport since carlson focused more on sport bjj and ibjj after.... Any thoughts?

@timgraf63202 жыл бұрын
If the clock choke gets its name from what you're doing with your feet, then a choke from the back with hooks in would really be a different kind of choke, wouldn't it?
