He needs to change his shot after the season, because what he’s doing rn isn’t working at all Edit: he’s a pretty solid player besides his scoring and aggressiveness, but a new and improved jumpshot mechanics would definitely improve his shooting. And that’s not going to happen fast, that’s why they needa do it in the off-season.

If Lonzo was scoring 15 a game off of 40% shooting, and averaging 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game, people would be praising him. For some reason, people can't seem to grasp that every player on the court doesn't need to be able to score at will. Makes me wonder if people even know what a PG is anymore.
@samoso6979

He shooting under 40% from the field, that's straight trash. He can't play defense, can't shoot, and isn't athletic enough to blow by people and get foul shots... which he also is shooting barely 50% He's a good Passer and solid rebounder for a PG, but with no shoot or defense, he will be a little bit better Ricky Rubio at most
@Onlyrealmusic4life
@Onlyrealmusic4life 6 жыл бұрын
And? You forgot to mention he is 20 lol did he plateau athletically and physically already? Honestly if he can change his jumpshot and actually become an above average shooter, he will build confidence in the rest of his offensive game. The guy is playing timid right now. Anyone would after going from shooting 42% from 3 in college to 25% in the NBA
@Onlyrealmusic4life
@Onlyrealmusic4life 6 жыл бұрын
How is the dude not athletic enough to get by people? LOL he is literally missing layups after getting past people all the time. Which is bad but also encouraging because it means he should be making these shots. He is an NBA athlete at the end of the day. He has enough quickness and length to be able to create a shot, once he acquires the offensive skills.

Unlike 19 year old Kobe, Garnett, & LeBron, Lonzo simply isnt NBA ready. He should have stayed in college another year or drop to the D-League. His passing, rebounding, and defense is good compared to other rookies. In fact, he's one of the youngest in NBA history to get 2 triple doubles. But his scoring is literally amongst the *worst* ... This year he gets a pass though... Its like his trial year. Next season is his first true season. Thats when he can be declared a bust or not...

Zantar95 I disagree. One. You being NBA ready doesn't just have to do with your scoring. Two. If he stayed in college they may not want him as much. Three. His second season won't show if he is a bust. Why? He could do great then play like shittt next season
@Zantar16
@Zantar16 6 жыл бұрын
ONE: Yes being NBA ready is not just about scoring, but scoring is the only element in Lonzo's game that is not NBA ready. His passing, rebounding, defense, and overall IQ are NBA ready. TWO: Not necessarily. He would probably be a more developed scorer and overall a better NBA player. Kind of like how 22 year old Kuzma is a great NBA player in his rookie season coming off 3 years of college. Obviously more prepared than Lonzo. THREE: Playing bad as a 20 year old rookie can be excusable and cannot be declared a bust as early as people are saying. But someone playing bad in their second season is a bust because even after an entire year of NBA experience he still playing bad. Not even Anthony Bennett was declared a bust until his second year. People were giving him a chance his rookie season.
@NarutoUzumaki-zv4ik
@NarutoUzumaki-zv4ik 6 жыл бұрын
Zantar95 ONE: you said he should've said in College or drop down just because of scoring. Now if you said more than that then maybe I would agree. TWO: Lakers have a plan for Lonzo and him staying in college would delay it and they wouldn't be able to pick him up unless they had a good draft pick which would've been a waste. Why not go to the NBA and get better while being with a team that has a team made for you?
@Zantar16

Franky Lo I totally agree ☝🏾. Think some of that is because a lot of people wanted Okafor, (so glad they didn’t do that) others wanted Mudiay, then D’Lo had that suspect summer league out the gate so the first impression wasn’t great. Aside from his terrible mechanics, he is missing because he HAS NO LEGS. Not that his legs are not strong but he does not have the proper conditioning to compete with these bigger, stronger, faster guys and still be able to elevate for a jump shot. Conor McGregor had no legs for boxing, same for Lonzo in the NBA. He needs to put down the rap mic and hit those old school wind sprints.

A few problems. One. No rookie has EVER gotten triple doubles as early as Lonzo. (He has gotten more than one.) Two. He averaging 8.7 PPG (shooting 30.9% and 24.5 from three), 7.3 RPG, and 7.1 APG. 24.5 is decent for a rookie while 30% for a NBA is decent. 40 for a NBA is great... So doesn't that mean it's our fault for being like "wow he isn't shooting 35%!!! He is a bust! What? Did you say that some NBA stars don't shoot that good? Screw you." Then to add Lonzo is averaging the 7th most assists in the NBA while James Harden has the highest (9.8 APG). Three. Gary Payton averaged 7.2 PPG his rookie season shot .007 from deep. And finally four. This all being said he only played 20 games so we can't just say he won't be good or he will be the best guys... Now it's ok to look at stats and picture it but to say he sucks just because of 20 games is very sorry.

His dad put unneeded pressure on him for no reason other than to try to enrich himself at Lonzo's expense. Lavar might be entertaining to us but he has done nothing but hurt Lonzo's career and talk him out of a $10M Nike deal. Lonzo would have went top 3 even if Lavar never spoke, Everything Lavar did helped Lavar not Lonzo. His performance at UCLA which was very consistent throughout the season actually took a dip once Lavar started his media tour. Lonzo had his worst game of the season against Kentucky the day after Lavar said he was better than Steph Curry. All the talk about how he's straight faced and nothing bothers him is pure BS, Some people show how they feel and some don't but unless he is a moron he obviously knows the pressure and expectations placed on him.

If a rookie point guard gets 7 assists a game, 7 rebounds a game, leads his team in steals, and blocks, but never takes a shot at all, he is better than the average rookie point guard. Calm down. As soon as his shots start dropping everyone will start eating their words. How can someone averaging 7 rebounds and 7 assists with a low amount of turnovers be considered a bust? Rookie guards almost always shoot poorly from the field. I get it. For this young rookie to begin his healing process and start improving his game, 1) dad needs to completely disappear 2)change shooting form now and start working on good mechanism. Don’t worry if it goes in or not, just get the proper form. 3) avoid the media 4)work on improving chemistry with teammates and be a leader. After that game where he walked to the bench when all his teammates where in a fight, if I was a teammate I wouldn’t forgive him for that.

Benn255 B You're right most players are hyped. Most need to stay an extra year like I said with Lonzo before he even declared to enter the draft. He needed to put on more weight, improve his handles, and refine his offensive repertoire. It's all being shown right now as his main problems. I don't know what to say. I still got his back because he has years to improve but he's looking bad so far. He has a lot to work on. The most alarming thing is he can't make any 3's even ones where he's wide open and stationary. He was knocking down step back 30 footers with bigger defenders with that windup at UCLA. Crazy...smh.

The only reason SAS is "petrified" about Lonzo being a bust is that it might mean no more interviews with Lavar eventually.

Thats what a bust means, "not living up to expectations". Is it his fault? Probably not, But im damn sure lavar and magic contributed to it a lot.

He’s a rookie!!! Let me make this clear . The shittest team in the Nba would be the best team in College. Not everyone is meant to be like Lebron , where ur a super star in name and almost talent coming into Nba .

He is a bust compared to other rookies from 2017 nba draft, for example, Tatum, Kuzma, Smith Jr and so on.

Not a big lonzo fan , but this kid is one of the most selfless PG i have seen . Always passing ball to the free man , he had a triple double and he is just a rookie . Damn, poor attitude of seniors in basketball rather than positive construction they try to take people down with negative criticism
