As someone who drank himself into homelessness it's nice to hear the most compelling argument for people who think they might be drinking too much. I hope this podcast reaches people at the start of the slope and gets them to consider stopping there before sliding down to where I got. Years of horribleness, recovery and now years of processing the trauma. Trust me people, it's not worth it.

I have drastically reduced my alcohol intake and can absolutely attest to the heightened anxiety that I've been experiencing. Mostly trying to stop a smoking trigger, so reducing nicotine and alcohol has made me more anxious. It isn't panic attack levels, but when I feel a craving coming on it's rough, especially when I wasn't prone to anxiety in the past.

Just have to say proud of you my mom was in AA for a while and concoured that she is now 5 years sober and so proud of her anyone can do this I've also noticed that you have to switch your brain thinking in a new direction and that is the main thing alter what you think is true and tell yourself this is what you need also you have to listen to your inner being that tells you if you start to go the wrong way like for instance if you aren't feeling hungry but you eat and your stomach starts growling that is your inner being telling you not to take another bite so listen to each and every part of your body and it will tell you

Thats not anxiety it's withdrawal. Alcohol is a toxin
@GCT19903 ай бұрын
Oh this is easy, Alcohol effects Gaba neurotransmitters located in the limbic system of your CNS which contributes to 74% of your entire Nervous system as a whole. Your Gaba receptors have been use to receiving a specific amount of alcohol which once you removed some of it, your GabaB is having a hissy fit. GABA has a few main functions, anxiety regulation is the most well known, unfortunately Alcohol and Benzodiazepines... Worst drugs in the world you're have to go to rehab for alcohol. Here's the problem, if you're in this stage that means your nervous system is badly injured and soon you're be damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you don't get that alcohol your experience withdrawal but you would of already hit tolerance which means even if you get your alcohol, your anxiety can't be regulated as Gaba acts as a peak pedal for anxiety so the longer you drink it, your break pedals become worse and worse. Pretty soon your have anxiety on and off the alcohol. Please seek this isn't isn't a joke.

It's been interesting listening to this podcast when speaking about alcohol. Because I kept avoiding dealing with depression and anxiety for, well 40 years, I made poor decisions which resulted in me creating a business and a life that really was just a house of cards. I turned to alcohol to knock down the fear and avoid the situation. Another thing I discovered is that the healthcare system in this country is so ridiculous, that getting help takes forever...unless you have money of course.

Dear Stephen Amell; I have a simple suggestion you might want to explore for your health and happiness : Perhaps consider finding yourself a life coach/therapist who specializes in helping people with anxiety and especially ADHD. If I had the money I would absolutely explore that possibility as my executive function is non existent and my addictive tendencies can make my life very stressful and both issues can really weigh me down with guilt. They can help you prioritize things in your life and give a third party perspective on things. ❤❤❤

No one is their best self on alcohol. It's a poison. The more you do it and the longer you do it the worse the effects are both physically and mentally. Using alcohol to help with anxiety is one of the worst possible options one can choose, because all of those anxious feelings rebound even stronger once the effects of alcohol wear off. Alcohol disturbs your sleep and good consistent sleep is one of the most important things, along with regular exercise, people need to combat anxiety.

May I suggest an actress to interview either in October? (just in time for the spooky season, because she's also an amateur paranormal investigator) or in April of next year (for Autism Acceptance Month): Kayla Cromer is the first autistic actor to play an autistic main character in a TV series ('Everything Is Gonna Be Okay') she also does voice work for the TV show 'Monster High'. I think it'll be really insightful if you invite Kayla Cromer to the "Inside of You" show to talk with her about her journey with autism, especially with a woman with autism, through the acting industry.
