The power of sound in horror films is what causes the real fear -- listen to any classic without watching the screen and you would be able to tell when anyone is being killed. Hitchcock was amazing that way - using the build-up of sound so that when you get to the moment of fear you are already so tense that even not seeing the action makes you feel like you were a primary witness.

I was an 80's kid and nothing will top Cabbage Patch Kids craze. Not even Lefty lunacy. I remember my neighbor PAID a Department store Manager just to go into their back office and look at the collection of them on their walls. She brought her child and invited me. I remember wondering why do they have 75 of these just on display when Parents were getting into fist fights in the isles... Even as a kid, I couldn't believe she paid money just to look at their collection in an office.
