Stephen King Tour in Bangor Maine (REAL LIFE Derry Maine!)

We are spending the next few days in Bangor, Maine, going on our own Stephen King tour of the city. Some of the places on our agenda to visit are Stephen King's house, some of real-life inspiration locations of Derry, Maine like the It standpipe and what is said to be the inspiration for the sewer drain. We also check out downtown Bangor, get some food across the river, and visit the Mount Hope Cemetery, which is one of the most beautiful cemeteries we've ever visited. Mount Hope Cemetery is not only one of the filming locations in Pet Sematary, but it also where Stephen King got the inspiration for some of his characters - there are headstones for characters like Carrie and Georgie from It!

Great video! I live here, and the next time you're up this way, be sure to look about 100 feet from Mount Hope Cemetery to see where King came up with his recurring villain, Randal Flagg. R. Flagg's is a kitchen supply store within a stone's throw.

Been in the house numerous times, doors always open, went to school with his kids. Mainers do not bother him. He worked at the YMCA coaching kids, a member of the local community. I have known him 40 years, never asked for an autograph, no one in Maine does.
