Of course the coverage and exposure may be larger but politicians behaving badly is probably fairly universal. To answer your questions. I do not feel bad for either being an American or living in the US. My life here has been very rewarding in part due to the variety of opportunities available. I do not feel overly embarrassed by American politicians being duplicitous, dishonest or even reprehensible. Sure I wish the quality of political candidates would improve from bought and sold corporate shills and sycophants we currently seem to be burdened with. Basically, I feel embarrassed when I make a mistake not when other people make mistakes. I am proud to say I am an American because of my personal experiences here. That is not to say I would not be equally happy living in another country but that is entering the realm of speculation. Is the USA the best country? Couldn't say. He then slowly escalates to wanting to issue special ID cards for Muslims and banning Muslims from entering the country, and people still applaud him, because apparently his supporters are just that Islamophobic and stupid. Screw the hardworking good American Muslims who've been working hard to bring their family members to live the American dream. Why not ostracize ALL Muslims and force them into the hands of Islamic extremists? And now he talks about being in favour of "enhanced interrogation", AKA torture, all in the name of "freedom". Do you not see the similarities here? Did you happen to watch the Freedom Girls' performance? "Deal from strength or get _crushed_ everytime" is virtually exactly what someone like Hitler or Stalin would say. The man is absolutely insane, and you think he won't do anything on a similar scale Hitler did? How would you know? It's obvious he has absolutely no love for Muslims, and in comparison to Hitler, America's in possession of a fully stocked nuclear arsenal. The past Republicans weren't half as crazy as Trump, hence their lack of popularity. First, most of the media in Russia is state controlled and the government has a huge influence on the news that gets reported. Second, Putin's approval ratings are heavily linked to the annexing of the Ukraine and the bombing of Syria. If the people should turn against those action (as Americans eventually turned against the war in Iraq) his approval numbers will plummet.

Normally, Trump wouldn't stand a chance in hell, but with all the arrogant blunders the Democrats have made, he has a very real chance of winning that most mainstream media outlets seem to be in denial about. They will never get the minority turnout they lean so desperately on and there's too much hostility for that kind of platform to translate to the polls. To put it bluntly, the people are very clearly angry, and rather than attempting to assuage those feelings, the established government is instead shrinking back in fear and making reflexive, poorly planned decisions, because they clearly have no intention of reforming themselves. They show classic signs of a government that feels threatened, and history tells us that in these conditions, the unthinkable can happen quite easily.
