Stephen Stills will never get the proper credit he deserves for his amazing guitar skills! I think he's thought of as a composer first, but he could hold his own with ANY guitar player!

Rhythm guitarist is called Kralle Krawinkel. He used to be the guitarist of german new wave/ comedy act "Trio" . An outstanding guitarist himself, in the seventies he played in a couple of kraut-rock bands.

In 1983, I had a super foxy, high-class girlfriend who took me to an trendy little restaurant in Sherman Oaks in the Valley of Los Angeles county. Stills was there at the bar with his buddy, the lead singer for Reo Speedwagon, Kevin Cronin. Kevin decided to move to our table and launch a campaign to steal my date- relentlessly and Stephen beer in hand, danced a jig behind him- laughing and in his own world. An image that will stay with me, is watching his worn yet beautiful cowboy boots shuffle on the wooden floor. Kevin tried his best and he seemed the quintessential English gentleman with huge hair and he was very sly and cunning with his approach-but to no avail. I wish I would have had a beer with Stephen.

OK Dexter, I respect your opinion and, at times, I've felt the same way, but you have to put yourself in the year 1972, before AIDS, herpes, and all the rest of the resultant gross aftermath of the sexual revolution.

The song was released in 1970 when the sexual revolution was blooming, and also featured background vocals from other artists, such as Cass Elliot and Ringo Starr. It was from his first self-titled solo album "Stephen Stills" (with the picture of him in the snow playing his guitar and a toy giraffe beside him). Check out other songs from the album, such as Cherokee, Old Times, Good Times (Jimi Hendrix on guitar), Go Back Home, Church (Part of Someone), Sit Yourself Down, etc. All classics.

It's all about the heart and soul!!! The heart wants what the heart wants, as the saying goes. Many singer-songwriters from the 60s and 70s had hearts and souls and wrote from that place. Stephen, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot (who just passed away as of May 1, 2023), Jim Croce, John Denver, Harry Chapin, Dan Fogelberg, Stevie Nicks, and countless others were a part of that era were not afraid to express their feelings thru songwriting. For example, the Gordon Lightfoot song "Sundown" has a backstory involving Gordon and an infamous former girlfriend: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6WwkKxqedyeZqs
