Stephen Warnock is with us this week lifting the lid on the £200k error that kept him out of the Champions League final squad. Rafa's on the sh*t list, Big Sam's on the stag do, and don't mention Gerrard.

These pods just highlight the BS that goes on behind the scenes in football. If someone is fit and on the pay role he should play or go. People talk of player power but UtC shows how we as fans are being conned of seeing the players. The managers try and conceal it but it's always obvious.

I thought that listening to it. He was trying to do the reverse psychology and days off training. You have to be a certain type of personality to pull that off with the mental stuff and obviously training methods and fitness had moved on loads since then. It was never going to work.
@MrMamooshka
@MrMamooshka 8 ай бұрын
@@dfnffc the worst thing is how he would never rotate the squad, relying on the same 11 players all season and on top of that not even give the players, frozen out a proper look in even in training. No wonder the likes of Reo-Coker blew up at him. The more I hear about O'Neill, the more of a disappointment he becomes.

@@MrMamooshka I'm a Forest fan so don't know much about what he did at Villa but it doesn't surprise me. What became blindingly apparent when MON became manger at Forest a few years ago was that he'd become a footballing dinosaur. Everything that he did was methods and outlook of an era we left behind 20 years before.

@@dfnffc I agree and his stubbornness with it says a lot about how his career petered out post-Villa. Warnock's story chimes with another from his Leicester days where in a post match MOTD interview O'Neill quipped Savage "lacks only one thing... Ability". It's the sort of thing that would just alienate most of today's players. People used to champion him as an up-and-coming manager as a possible successor to Fergie or a potential England manager and I'm starting to think everyone was just taken in by the glasses.

@Tomwizkey 8 ай бұрын
@@christaylor1913 No, Chris, it is unprofessional to show up to any job hungover. If you were an employer, you’d expect the same of your employees. It is not unreasonable of a manager to expect a professional athlete to arrive at work, ready to work. The fact Warnock uses this as a stick to beat Benitez with might suggest why his career didn’t go as far as perhaps it could have.
@christaylor1913

@@Tomwizkey It's absolutely unprofessional yes not saying it wasn't but you saying as if it's not something that happens in any other line of work is pretty silly. I think Warnock is pretty much saying yes he's in the wrong for doing what he done but so is Rafa and if they hadn't fucked up he wouldn't have. He's just giving his viewpoint behind it, that's the point of the podcast isn't it.

Cheek of Baldy Chris calling Stephen a shithouse for legging it after the night club incident , you wouldn't hang your hat on him covering your back anywhere , never mind outside a night club 😊🙀

Really enjoyed that. Should have kept hold of him. Much better than the likes of Dossena and Insua who came in after.

Interesting career Warnock had and his relationships with Rafa and Houiler. That was embarrassing how Liverpool treated the squad players post Istanbul.. everybody should of got a cut of that money who made an appearance during that run Pongelle Mellor made massive contributions The Rafa bashing is over the top it not the first time that Rafa asked for something and got something else from the board like when he wanted Barry and ended up with Keane. Fair play to Josemi if you don't ask you don't get and judging by the atmosphere in the club it everyman for himself

You can't really complain missing out on the CL final when you flapped it in an away game in the group stages at Olympiakos and had to subbed off at half time. Also going on a night out before a game regardless wether you're playing or not. Championship level player who probably didn't make the most of his oppurtinity Great interview tho
