Hi Stephen, I've literally just found your channel and you are so easy to listen to. Very engaging. This is a wonderful painting and great tutorial. I've been painting wet on wet up to now (Bob Ross self-taught beginner here. Is your canvas prepared with a base white (as per bob ross prep) or (as I am assuming) is this straight onto a dry canvas? My concern as a beginner is how easy it will be to blend colours without a wet base coat? I'm still finding it difficult to determine the thickness levels of my oils when painting. Am very happy with my first 4 paintings but really want to try this one! Thanks in advance.

Thank you Gary... i paint on a dry canvas and then mix colours together on canvas... sometimes i give the canvas a thin layer of linseed oil before painting big skies etc...but i use only thin layers of paint as i go....keep thick paint until the end...

@@EasyOilPainting Many thanks. I've just order some more colours and a filbert brush as I think it will help with some of the detail. How long have you been painting if you don't mind me asking? Very impressive work and you're certainly an inspiring artist to follow. Thanks so much for this tutorial - can't wait to try it!

I actually have a seascape that I painted that would benefit from some grass in the foreground. 😊

Such a shame to have your beautiful painting presentation disrupted by the outside noise. I would suggest you record the painting process without audio & dub-in the descriptive commentary at night when it's quiet.
